Shortly after Billiam and Chloe split, Jeff mysteriously leaves the band.

Can't believe people are voting for D'arcy. Does she say smart things? When? Where? Has it been recorded? If so, post links.

So people still think D'arcy must be smart to have left the Smashing Pumpkins in 1999?

She herself told last year, she got fired within the time she got for her first rehab. And was still upset to have had no chance to stay in the band while Jimmy got many opportunities for rehabs.

Her mind was addled. I'm not sure she even knew what the hell she really wanted at the time. That she wanted to stay in the band might be just a bit of revisionist history on her part. From what I heard (amongst other things) is that she had in her head this idea of "going Hollywood". I wonder if that seed was planted during all the time the band spent out there for the Adore recording sessions? It's around that time that a really different side of her seemed to emerge, anyway.

It seems like if gender was an angle, he got what he wanted in terms of fixing that deep longing for a son (since Mike Byrne proved inadequate) the first time around. If he had a second kid, I guess why not a third? Especially in the context of those vaguely pro-life/pro-procreation/pro-family comments he made as of late.

Well he isn't a very stable individual is he? This shit with Chloe is already shockingly long term considering his track record.

I actually think Billy is more intelligent than anyone on that list. He's just kinda crazy and post 1995' Billy got changed forever by the level of fame that he experienced. You don't write a gazillion great songs like that by being some kind of idiot.

It may have started with D'arcy getting befriended with Mickey Rourke during the recording sessions in LA for the Adore album, that she tried to become an actress. There was an independent movie called "Pieces of Ronnie" he wanted her to be involved in with him. She also auditioned on other projects. Therefore she already missed dates of the recording sessions for the Machina album.
Her agent for an acting career, Wendell Green, even became her fiance. She later accused him for having sabotaged her film career.

Was D'arcy fired for neglecting her tasks in the band, being more interested in an acting career?
Did she spend the time in rehab she got as a time-out of the band?
They may tell different stories about it...

I think what's clear is that the gravest of sins in Billy's eyes is to evidence lack of 110% "all in" commitment and dedication to the band. He does not like it if you have side projects which he perceives as competing for your attention. I think he is very insecure about band dynamics and desires all your focus and attention.

We've seen that he'll go a long way in putting up with the drug stuff and working around it...as long as you still appear committed to the band, and don't endanger its functioning too severely.

Would love if Bates did something else and Billy would ban him forever.
