It seems like Jimmy & James are just shaking Billy/SP for $$$ at this point. I suspect they've learnt their lessons first time round, and since Bill needed them for the "comeback reunion tour/album", they've contracted up, contributed the bare minimum or given Bill exactly what he wants, and then check out. And then if it bombs, and the next Jimmy/James project (Shiny 2) is unpopular Billy will probably disband again. And it won't be his fault for putting out shit like 'Cyr', it'll be because... the nostalgia market is oversaturated, or COVID, or Jimmy & James weren't really into it. etc. etc.

I wonder if they'll go on to do their "big, final concept album" after Shiny, because Bill's expressed a desire to, yet this seems like an almost gritted-teeth, business arrangement. The difference between Shiny's collection of pre-written songs, and a big concept album.... is Jimmy (& maybe James') sustained input in the creative process. There's tension there under the surface because that's probably not what they signed up for, and more about Billy reclaiming something, without compromising himself obviously, cos if they recorded a collaborative MCIS epic... Bill wouldn't be singing or mixing his vocals any better.
