SPFC.org guy is missing out on a great opportunity.
I remember Boz saying he'd like to make a central online lyrics depository, but no one has stepped up to the plate. He's also said recently on IG that SPFC has a lot of incorrect lyrics, but "whoever runs it doesn't seem to have the motivation" or something.
He's obviously open to someone offering to do it, so... ...why does the SPFC guy insist on treating it like some hobby IT project? He showed pics of how it's on some shitty home server with a potato for a cpu heatsink. Take some initiative and contact Billy ffs. You might be able to upgrade that thing. |

Why don't you pay for, maintain and update a website which remains a thankless task, with only the prospect of new and uninspiring music to add to it?

I run SPFC.
and by "doesn't have the motivation" he means that I ignore him when he emails "it's not the jackals lick their balls!! " |

Hi, Richard Spfc here, spfc.org is my site.
Posting this from a friend's phone as the government has banned me from using all internet-connected devices, because I brought down 1,507 computer systems with my hacking skills, causing 7-point drop in the New York Stock Exchange. I did this in tribute to my hero Zero Cool/Crash Override from the hit 1995 film Hackers. As a result I have been unable to update my site in quite some time, but the good news is that once I turn 18 in 5 years, I will be able to add the Cotillions lyrics. Thank you for your patience. |

Hi, this is Susan, SPFC was run by me after Richard's parents sent him to a bootcamp. I am 42 now with a career and family, what's the offer for providing that service? 30 an hour would be okay, otherwise I suggest you stop assuming that everybody works for free.
Best, Susan |

Hi Nacho here, I'm afraid Susan got arrested for promoting bleach products online to children. I now run SPFC, which kind of sucks because I'm a massive Stiltskin fan and it's leaving me awake at night feeling conflicted. Did you ever hear the single 'Inside'? Yeah, listen to that and tell me that Corgan didn't just copy their sound. Forgotten geniuses of the 90s. Anyway, I'm just going to go ahead and replace all the tabs on SPFC with Inside. I hope you understand. I don't care if you don't.
Fuck you / pay me Yours, Nacho |

spfc was run by Eric Agnew, it seems like he updates it every now and then but at this point can you blame him if it's not a priority?
there's an sp wiki codex that is about to go public and will basically serve this function you describe |

Would Agnew accept help? Because FFS if all it takes for the place to get the recognition it merits from clueless tools as the exact thing people seem to think is missing is to add Cotillions lyrics and updated tour dates, fuck it, I'll do it

All I know is: If I'd been running a sprawling database of band information for 20 years, and the band one day both acknowledged it's existence and a desire for someone to offer the service officially -I'd do it just because why not?
How boring do you gotta be to respond with OH I HAVE A FAMILY AND A FULL-TIME JOB BILLY. I DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING INTERESTING LIKE RUN YOUR OFFICIAL LYRIC SITE. IT'S THE NORMIE LIFE FOR ME!!! I'd at least talk to Billy and find out what he's willing to pay. |

I can see how someone wouldn't want to add more responsibility and high expectations to something they do on the side out of love and not wanting that to become a focal part of life and source of stress (that's assuming he'd even get paid a living wage for it, which I highly doubt).
Especially when dealing with someone as perfectionist as billy. |

I can't remember why, but I tried to reach out and message the webmaster of SPFC a while ago, but the email address that is listed on the main site bounced back.
All told, that site is amazing. Wouldn't take TOO much to get it to where it needs to be. Every now and again, it's not there and I realize just how much of a repository of SP nerd info it is and that losing it would suck. Forgot about SPLRA. It's good, but even that thing needs major work - see SP 2019 as proof. Guess I need to create a login and start to go to town on it, as it looks like a Wiki that any/all can update, yeah? Those early sites were such a labor of love. Hell, we're STILL using one of those today to communicate with one another. Think our buddy Pakula put this monster up in 1997? I've been here since 1998, which is utter insanity when you get right down to it. I think a project like the one he's talking about would just need somebody who has some extra time and some good computer skills. Taking SPFC to the 21st century design-wise would probably not be TOO hard? Hell if I know. But the hard work is already done, and has been done for probably 20 years now. |
