ha, here's a thread similar to this one that i started in 2005. hope it illuminates some origins, assuming the stories were true back then.

its the same files that were posted on netphoria years ago, just converted to .flac. I have the .wav files also, but there were never any txt files or info, but they are there if you want to grab them. obviously don't just link to this folder, they could vanish from there any time.

if you cant find or want the original wav files i can upload them, but I am sure they will be the same as anyone who got them from Netphoria.

we're not looking for the original wav files.
i'll just compare those shntool checksums, and if they're the same everywhere, then i think it's fair to assume we've got the original source and nothing happened to it in the mean time.

i compared this txt file i found with the shntool checksums from the flac files from that google drive link, and they match. so that must be the same source as what i originally downloaded. (they were shared as flac files, not as wav files.)

i googled zwan2002-11-xx_pre-masters.txt and found this:

this matches the shntool checksums of the flac files on that google drive:

so both sets are good to go.

i don't remember specifically what gear i used, but it was a commercial tape deck > SB Audigy or SB Live > WAV. StArSeEd did some magic and then put it out there.

i also possessed the original VHS' for Fruit Bat Salad (3 shows from 1992) and Fruit Bat Salad II (Live video of SD songs in order from various concerts). i didn't transfer those, but i gave them to someone who gave them to someone else to transfer.

there was also a VHS of 1993.08.13. if i recall, it was a full video. don't remember if it was PRO or AUD or even the overall quality though. not sure what ever became of that either.

sadly, i no longer have these gems.
This is great information. It's nice to see a picture of the tape.

The work that Starseed has done on PI is undoubtedly good, I wonder how different the original unequalised version sounded.

Wow, you had the Fruit Bat Salad tapes. It's unfortunate you don't still have them.

So I suppose if all this old stuff counts as unreleased Pumpkins material then we can't have the links here. Or maybe we can pretend that only applies to stuff that is supposedly going to be released by the band.

Ok, thanks. It look like it might predate the official Pisces Iscariot LP... this is probably what Billy mentions in the liner notes for the reissue?

It is a bit subjective to decide if a restoration should be included, but I think you'll find few who would fault Starseed's Adore II restoration, for example. I also have a Demos for Darcy restoration by Max2Max that uses no noise reduction, EQ or compression; just some pitch and volume correction. It might be worth including along with the original source.

13's stuff can absolutely be left in the dumpster, though.

I don't know if you are still looking, but I have the Moon and TSP demos transferred from the original tapes. A few collectors and I made a homemade boot CD years ago called "Previeu". We used my original Moon demo tape and another collector's TSP tape to make the CD. I'm sure I have a few other goodies too; it's been YEARS since I've been involved in the trading scene.

When I finish advancing to candidacy I might have time to try to get this in motion. I recall that boot, though only vaguely. I wonder if I've got in my CD binder (which is probably worthless with CDR rot by now).

But now, what might these "goodies" you speak of be? My grandpa used to offer me goodies when I went over to his house. Typically peanut butter cookies. But damn if I don't love me some goodies.

I owned the original tapes of the WZRD show and the Hut live promo with "Drown (Waterfront Demo)". I transferred them to CD-R years ago, ANA(M) > CD-R. One of my favorite goodies is the "En Concierto en Mexico" promo CD-R. I can't remember if I shared these things back in the day or not. I also have a Machina tour promo, "In Concert in Bercy", that sounds amazing...

Oh man, WZRD has long been one of my favorites! Of all the rare stuff that was gifted into circulation it's the one I listen to the most. I basically think of it as a pre-Gish album. Thank you for that one!
