Congrats! You mean $4,000, right? That was one of the items that was actually reasonably priced.

https://reverb.com/ca/p/diezel-vh4-1...isting=6319286

The beat-up Machina-album VH4 has a $2,500 premium on it, putting it at $6,500.

If you click on the amp head listings, most of them have pictures of the tubes inside. You can see which tubes Billy uses for which amps, and for which purposes. He has Sovtek EL34 WXTs in the 1997 JCM 800 which he used for leads and harmonies in the studio, and he has JJs 6L6Gs in the Machina VH4.

still insane, but not a million.

also note that the strat #2 reached at least 35k during the silent auction. the highest bids were at 35k after the first round. and who knows how many "silent" rounds were organised afterwards (via mail and phone).

weird.

i can still see it listed, on the last page (6): https://reverb.com/shop/the-official...rb-shop?page=6

also how does $4,500 become $4,000? this isn't some USD conversion into a different dollar, is it?

That $200 Crate used a backup for Machina was a bargain. Might have nabbed that bad boy myself if I was quicker on the trigger.

This Crate GX15R is from the private collection of Billy Corgan.

Believe it or not, this little combo was responsible for the heavy distortion sounds on Machina. This is the Machina sound. Corgan would run out of the headphone jack or the speaker jack, similar to a DI. These little Crate combos were dimed, essentially becoming distortion pedals, and were routed out into the board.
well no wonder that album sounded like shit

I'm surprised no one has shelled out the $8400 for the Gibson acoustic
Quote:
used a fair amount on an as of yet unreleased acoustic album, "ChicagoKid," that Corgan recorded in 2004.
I would have imagined that speculators would have gobbled that one up in anticipation of Corgan releasing the album, it going through the roof in popularity, and anything and everything associated with that recording blowing up in value. Blowing fucking up.

I like how the main GX15R is $6000 and the backup is $200. People don't like Machina enough for a 30x increase in price

what are they chances that one of billy's boogers are somewhere in one of those unsold amps?

like a booger that he picked and then flicked across the room and it fell through the ventilation vents and into the amp? Then you could actually have a piece of billy's body, and when cloning technology becomes readily available to peasants, you could clone billy, nurture him through his youth, making sure to not coddle him so that he is slightly fucked up and can use that as inspiration for his future creative endeavors, allow Billy II to write music and you act as manager, skimming some off the top as you book him shows. You could literally make thousands.

Yes they are so time is of the essence. Buy the amp, locate the booger, and have it cryogenically frozen. With any luck it fell on one of the power tubes and was burned to it, destroying some of the precious DNA, but hopefully preserving enough of a sample to make an effective clone. Or it could could be like Sloth from the Goonies.

No, they're different listings - one is in excellent condition, with no settings markings, and the other is in good condition, with BC's settings marked on it. I don't know what it is, but my currency is in USD. I'm accessing the site from Canada, don't know if that'd mess with the listings.

Not to outshine your cool new $4,500 amp acquisition, spguitar0, but I just got myself a $6,000 amp.

And best of all, I paid only $40 for it. Thanks, local Craigslist dude that also threw in a bonus Aphex Punch Factory Optical Compressor pedal at the last second (coz I guess you really wanted to get rid of your amp gear).

This Crate GX-15R is actually quite the impressive little amp, IMO. It exceeds my expectations for a practice amp, and gets some great sounds.

Here's a recording I made with it being boosted by a BOSS CS-3 compressor, and flipping through guitar pickups. Despite the phone choking on the volume (I turned it way down in hopes of preventing that) it can still be heard how good the amp is sounding.

Full signal chain is strat (pickups: Blue Lace / Silver Lace / BC-2) -> MXR 10-band EQ -> BOSS PS-5 -> BOSS CS-3 -> Crate GX-15R.
