Netphoria Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol. 1 rating
So Netphoria, there has been a mixed reception to the album so far, but what would you score it? I'm curious to know what you would give the album...and what the site thinks overall.
Is this a slight return to reform? More of the same? Worse than what came before? Lets find out what the official Netphoria review is out of 10...because stars out of 5 is bullshit. |

Better than MTAE, which sounded like Billy w/ a multitrack. This is billy with a band.

I'm tempted to go back and listen to MTAE to see if it's as bad as I remember. I may have already done this and have forgotten.

I actually have this on vinyl. I like some parts a little more than Oceania actually, but that's probably because (although I don't care for his playing much) Lee's drumming is better than mike's. You know... I've come to love adore over the years though. You were right all along. For Martha and To Sheila were amazing at Wembley... (And not just cos JC was playing them - though mostly that ) |

This is within the context of SP's music, which I imagine like most fans of this band doesn't get pitted objectively against other music.

Yeah it’s not even his best stale rehashed work either. Lol at the 7 and 8 ratings.

sorry kahlo, not trying to be a dick, but even in context, for me adore is 7-8 not this. in fact nothing since machina gets over 5.

Fair enough. It's nowhere near Adore or Machina in terms of originality or interest. I'd therefore rank those albums much higher for obvious reasons. I was thinking of giving this a 6 but felt charitable.

I did this a couple days ago. There's very few moments in MTAE, but the shit drums kill most of it. still a 2/10 record. Anti-Hero, Anaise, One and All....those have some moments. But, I can't see myself listening to this record again.

Well, my rating system for this album is in the post-2000 context. I wouldn't even bring the golden era into this.
Currently listening to Monuments to see how this compares. |

I would say 7.5, but it's closer to a 7 than to an 8. 7 it is.

Interestingly enough the reddit SP’ers seem to be underwhelmed too. They’re usually
O-board level Corgan homers too. |

probably a 6 or something - this has what I consider to possibly be the worst SP song of all time, but it also has a few of the best SP2 tracks on it for what it's worth
Imma give at least a couple more listens to the whole thing before actually casting the DAMNING poll vote |
