Does anyone know what the first song written for each album is?
The closest I can figure is that Blissed and Gone was the first Adore song and Bullet was probably the first MCIS song (though Dizzle seems to have been written by the time of the first Metro show in 93)
Idk why this matters. |

Probably. Would explain songs like Methusalah too.
Also I forgot that the Gravity Demos were mid-SD tour, but I think Bullet was demoed there too. And Mouths of Babes was written on tour too |

"A simple song in a country tuning, 'Thirty-Three' was the first song that I wrote when I came home from all the Siamese Dream touring. I took three days off, and this was literally the first thing that came out of my hands when I sat down. I was living in my new house for the first time, and this song conveys all of that. The 'cha-cha-cha' sound is my drum machine through a flanger, and what you hear is the same one right off the demo because I couldn't remember how to recreate it. The stringly sounds are part Vocoder, plus five slide guitars tuned to one note each to create the chords." |

also
Before it all falls apart there is a moment where you feel alright with not know- ing where you will land; knowing that by standing at a crossroads you invite whatever just conclusion may come, be it failure or success. I'd take these walks through my old neighborhood, my collar pulled up not just to brace away the cold but so that I could save myself the embarrassment of being recognized near where I lived. I longed for a privacy I'd gladly given away in my rush towards Olympus, and my home, painted a camouflaged shade of purple, had become a target for late-night teens feeling the need to drunkenly scream my name as I slept. I was fine with the idea of never-growing up, but death seemed unavoidable; the death of youth, the death of innocence. |

i honestly doubt even Billy knows the answers to all of these though |

Thread begs the question what constitutes “written”
Is a song been written when it has a verse/chorus loop? When it has a vocal melody? Scratch vocal? Or 100% with final lyrics consistent with album version? Having written and recorded several gorilla emo records in the early 2000s, i can attest that u think groupies were a thing in the 50s 60s and 70s well ho ho ho my boys let me tell u — those groupies have a lot of different ideas about what constitutes “written” |

Also, should we consider old songs, written before they started writing a new album, or just songs written specifically for that album?

I have the official MCIS guitar tab book that I purchased back in like 1999 or so. In that, there's a series of Guitar World articles which Billy wrote about his playing. They were actually quite good. In one of them, he talks about how he used to work at a record store and he would bring his acoustic guitar in to practice between customers. One day, he came up with the opening riff of Siva and realized that it was the type of sound he had been searching for (or something like that), so I believe Siva might be the first Pumpkins song ever written...

When he blogged about recording Monuments to an Elegy, he mentioned jamming on "Anaise" with the Byrne-era band in 2012/2013.

For Martha riff appeared in a MCIS demo. That’s probably the earliest Adore reference.
