As much of an asshole as you can be sometimes, I actually like this idea.

It starts at 8pm, so doors probably open at 7pm. Explosions in the Sky is the opener all four nights.

I'm getting stoked to see my good friend Michael Smith before the Explosions in the Sky set. They're going to steal this fucking tour and should be given two hours to jam.

I hope Corgan sees how they do it and scraps his bullshit Superchrist, Gossamer, et al. nonsense. Won't happen because he's a giant ass, but whatever.

Oh, I was visiting with a good buddy who's in a band and on Sony's label ... he was saying Corgan has told all record labels this album SP is touring on is exactly what he wants - a huge arena rock feel. He's also pissed no one likes it. Go figure.

Unless a place you want to hang out at is a McDonald's, no, there's absolutely nothin' in the surrounding area of the Theater to check out. If you want to hang out somewhere before the show, do it in downtown Philly and then hop on the SEPTA Frankford to 69th St. train line, which ends directly across the street from the Tower.

If you get on the Frankford-69th St. line, the "EL," anywhere from 2nd St. (Old City) to 30th Street Station you'd get to the Tower 15-20 minutes, tops. When I do the whole route, I pick it up at Frankford and go all the way to 69th, it's taken between 35-45 minutes.

Thank you - I have to be at a luncheon downtown and was curious how long it'd take to get to the theater. I might as well take my wife to the Constitution Center while we're there.

Ok, so Ive never been to Philadelphia. My girlfriend just sent me this:

http://www.septa.org/travel_advisory/mse_wknd.html

It says that the subway is closed starting 10/19 at 8pm and is closed until Monday. WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT ABOUT???

It says no EL Service. I have no idea what any of this means. Can someone elaborate?

It means trains won't run and buses will be substituted.

This same thing was in effect a couple weeks ago when I went to the Jim Gaffigan show at the Tower. The EL still runs from Frankford to 40 St., once ya get to 40th, you just walk right outta the subway to the shuttle bus. From there, the shuttle bus ride took about 20 minutes to get to 69th St., this was on a Saturday night. The traffic Friday night could make the shuttle bus ride longer.

Woah. I am headed into town on amtrak from nyc. Eta is 8p. (I figured sp will not be on till 830/9)

How long should I presume it will take to get from the philly amrak station to 69th st?

Is cabbing it even an option?

Thanks ahead of time for the advice...

Picking up the EL at 30th St., you should give yourself at least 30 minutes. The first concern is how long you're gonna have to wait for the EL once you get outta 30th Street Station and into the subway; I figure the wait if you just happen to miss it by a couple seconds could be 10-15 minutes long. Once on the EL, it would take only 3 minutes maybe to get from 30th to 40th Street. The shuttle buses should be right there and ready to go once you get to 40th, but I'm sure the ride on the shuttle bus will be at least 20 minutes. Taking a cab would be somethin' to consider since they wait right outside the train station, but I doubt it'd save much time, not to mention how much it would cost.

Billy and Ginger are going to the Philly Museum of Modern Art to see the exhibit of Renoir's landscapes. Oh, no, wait, that's me.

Arrow FYI

I called the Tower Theater box office tonight to confirm what time the doors will open, Ticketmaster's venue information was saying three hours prior to showtime, but they'll open at 7 PM, an hour prior to the start. The booze will be available as soon as the doors open. If you're not comin' in a car (No place to put your camera if you can't get in with it) and you're goin' to more than just tomorrow night's show, you might wanna hold out on bringing any cameras since the person I spoke with told me they will not be permitted. The first three shows have sold out, there are still some tickets available at the box office for Tuesday.

Yeah, playing Providence tonight and having to come straight down here right after, I don't think they'll be in the mood tomorrow night to burn many lies off souls. Being that they'll be comin' off a day off Sunday night, it's most likely that'll be THE SHOW. As for what I think we might hear that hasn't been played yet, I'm feelin' the return of The Everlasthing Gaze, considering that it's the only single, with exception to Gish and the soundtracks, that hasn't been played yet. I would be totally shocked if they played anything else from MCIS & TAFH. I'm expecting one "new" song and hoping for Stellar.
