I wouldn't be surprised if he arranged 3/4 of it. I'm sure someone can pull some choice quotes. I remember one about her just having a few riffs and pieces before he came in.

Honestly, I never really considered it before now. I always thought it applied to Celebrity Skin though.

i don't have time to find it now, but i remember reading a confession or entry or ellipsis filled monologue where he definitely went on record saying something along those lines. he bitched about writing the whole thing for her and not even receiving credit, because that's how awesome he is. or something.

lack of feedback is really weird

that paris video where she could barely play it was aug 26 2010, the iso one is sept 11 2010. sounds like she actually got worse over the two weeks

Billy certainly had a major role (five songwriting credits, played bass on two songs, creative guru to Courtney). He definitely arranged most or all of Malibu (the best song). The guitar on the demo of Dying is probably Billy too, and I really like it.

no, an MTV Unplugged set in 1996 would've been incredible. Given that it was cancelled before the NYC OD, I think Billy might've been self conscious about being underprepared - they hadn't done an acoustic set since early May 1996, the day after Jimmy and Jonathan's second OD in Lisbon. They did that Triple J acoustic set earlier in March, but that was it.

More importantly though, MTV Unplugged was super high stakes, and part of me thinks that Corgan was reluctant to go through with it knowing how legendary Nirvana's performance was, and how their set would inevitably compared negatively to Nirvana's. just my 2 cents

yeah but also the guitar is out of tune, but even beyond the tuning it sounds like she's playing wrong notes, and most importantly her rhythm and "touch" and the way she's voicing the chords is fuuuucked

I can't tell if it was reported on July 4 or meant to be filmed then. Last acoustic set was at Brixton in mid May. Really good point about the Nirvana thing

Hit So Hard belongs on that list too. Aeroplane-style guitar intro, arrangement reminiscent of peak Pumpkins, and very Billy-esque lyrics ("The one I love I should destroy", "I look at him and drown", "He rages to be true").

I was at a Courtney show 3 or 4 years back and this cute red-haired chick with cut marks all over her arms came up to me to compliment me on my "ZERO" SP shirt. And then I started going on how Billy essentially wrote Celebrity Skin and she got super pissed off and started talking about about how Billy was only credited with 'contributing' to 4 songs. I said I wasn't sure about that, but pointed out that Corgan was at least clearly responsible for the best songs on the record. And then I went on about how Kurt clearly wrote live through this and she was also very pissed off... Goddamn Courtney Love fans.

Fucking Fuzzy... Even getting in SP arguments in real life settings
