Default ITT Punpkins arrangements you wish were slightly different

I wish the 'give it all back to you' section of Fuck You was dreamier, a la the 'siamese twins' section of Geek USA.

I wish the version of Disarm with slide guitar made the album instead of the mellotron one.

i wish Oceania had Jimmy on it. I actually did like the song writing on that record.

also I wish the everlasting gaze didn't have the rant portion without any music. cringeworthy. get rid of it or have something going on other than bollster's voice

The fade out in the song Oceania. Title track of the album, middle of ripping guitar solos, and it just fades away...

also, it's funny how the speaking part at the end of Cupid was removed on the remix, because that was sort of cringeworthy

Some of the songs from the Zero single would be even better if they were more produced, and had the overdub treatment. They sound a bit like rough takes. I'm pretty sure they were done live in studio.

Wow, apparently Marquis in Spades was recorded live to an 8 track cassette recorder. I didn't know about that before. Actually, they sound really good for being done to an 8 track cassette.

I always kinda liked that vibe the Zero songs had. Super aggressive, angry songs with spur of the moment takes.

I always liked the gritty raw sound of the Zero single, it was more heavy-metal sounding. It just solidified my opinion of SP as being incredibly versatile.

especially Pastichio Medley was played exceptionally well for a one take thing.

When it comes to the sorts of songs that just convey raw rancor and futile fury, I think having things sound too polished only takes some of the kick out of them. I like that songs like "X.Y.U." and the songs on the Zero single have that live feel. Mellon Collie as a whole wouldn't feel quite as earnest if it were galvanized with that glossy Siamese Dream sheen. It works better as a spit-shined antique family heirloom.

All of TAFH was done in one take, dude. Moulder and Flood were then tasked with finding the most appropriate points to splice the 2.3-hour-long song into different tracks and discs to make it sound like several songs. They did a commendable job, but personally, I think that the division between "The Last Song" and the title track should have occurred about a minute or two earlier, because it's pretty obvious that the first couple minutes of "TAFH" fits much more comfortably with the preceding track, and feels a bit disjointed when considered part of the following song. It doesn't fit at all.

What was it about 1998 that made it work any better back then?

Billy Corgan was able to record "Pastichio Medley" in a cave, with a box of scraps.

... I wish the instrumental riff in Stellar (4:50 - 4:55) played for a couple more times before Billy came back in singing...

a slightly different topic, but my main "pumpkin regret" is that one of the many amazing aeroplane songs didn't make MCIS instead of beautiful, which is the only track I'm not crazy about. Maybe love too... I do like love, but there are better aeroplane tracks

Some of the songs on Monuments were pretty cool but they needed better atmospherics added to them. Especially some better creative lead guitar. The lead guitar was so phoned in.
