Trail of Dead does not suck. Some of their albums suck.

for example its not like i remember every deerhunter song every time i listen to one of their records because its a lot of ambience for the most part, but man there's usually at least one or two infectious earworms in the first listen

I dunno Source Tags pulled me in immediately and I've only grown to love it more and more. There's a lot of awesome guitar interplay to appreciate

No one has anything to say about Cursive, eh? Can't tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Nah I liked tao, albeit the mixing was kinda harsh/grating

this is actually one of the best captures of the vision and aesthetic of STaC as an album I have ever read

Cursive's good. Even though the first four albums are the band's golden age, everything from the first album to Swollen (inclusive) has stuff worth listening to.

Gemini, though, I just found that one cringeworthy.

Somebody linked Kasher's latest solo album in another thread, and I tried to listen to it, but it just didn't do anything for me on the first listen. I miss when he sang like he had a cold all the time.

I am still down with Cursive.

I'm not in Omaha often but when I am O'Leaver's the bar a couple of them bought is a must stop.

I'm not the guy that linked Kasher's new solo album, but I've mentioned it a couple times and no one's bitten. I really like it. It kind of reminds me of a tamer Mama, I'm Swollen (which I loved). I do agree that early Cursive is the best, but I really like the latter albums quite a bit as well (especially Swollen). And as always, The Ugly Organ is a desert island disc. Not so hot on Gemini though I feel like I need to give it more spins before I write it off completely.

Lost Songs and IX are great

I enjoy century of self and tao of the dead but I won't bother defending them.

Good live band.

I wasn't aware any of their stuff really needed defending though. They seem to be a pretty consistent band by my measurement. Either you like it or you don't? They're a pretty easy band to ignore if you don't care for them.

I've seen them in three different tiny venues.
