NIN
Radiohead (although they barely count since they make masterpieces every decade)
Pavement
AiC
REM (although I like their 80s stuff more)

If we’re doing “80s bands that transitioned beautifully to the next decade & made great albums then” imma give a nod to the homies Depeche Mode

Thumbs up

The VerveÖPipe
Vertical Horizon
Kittie
Sneaker Pimps
Belly

And not techincally a band, but they surely need to be considered in the top 90's canon: the one and only Wreckx ní Effect.

MBV is really an 80's band to me, that's why i didn't list them.

mbv took the 90s as a cue to stop making good music

sating MBV are an 80s band because they released more of their material in that decade is valid

saying MBV are a 90s band because they released their most renowned & influential album in that decade i also valid

the only thing I know for sure is that FoolofaTook is a very silly, misguided man, who's even been quoted as saying "geek isn't anywhere near god-tier SP" so, by all means... have at it gentlemen!

On her MySpace page at the time, I remember her saying she "danced her ass off" to Zeitgeist when Billy first played it to her. This type of behavior would align with that of a mentally damaged person.

i mean, all of their records where primarily thought out for the vinyl format, which is not much a 90's thing, the CD era.
i simply tend to associate MBV with a classic 80's anti-rock attitude. and Loveless is the culmination of that experiment (and whose concoction started in early 89... just remember how long it took to complete that beast).
