Man I thought I would only get to hear one of this weekends shows. But damn both of them.. You are awesome. Really making me want to go see them next weekend when they play VA. I guess a road trip may be in my future.

No. As long as it isn't burned to CD and re-extracted to WAV, no data should be lost and the track transitions should still be seamless when played on a computer.

wouldn't it be a lot simpler to just use shntool or trader's little helper

To the original recordist.. ty very much. I posted the SBE report in a hurry as I was heading into the city. The recordings are very much appreciated and, although they have some technical flaws, they sound great!
Yes.. the best way to correct this would be to use shntool or my personal fav, trader's little helper. You can load up all the tracks (in order) and then use TLH to fix them all at once. It will just 'remap' each song by taking a few sectors from either the beginning or end of each track and append it to the previous/next track. However, it's not full proof; the music within the tracks needs to be contiguous. Errors like this need to be cleaned up and fixed on the version that is uploaded to the LMA, even if as stated by Sebastian, it's not really a problem until burned to cd then re-extracted to wav. I'd be more than happy to assist the recordist in this process if need be. I also noticed the LMA identifiers weren't really in the preferred etree naming scheme, or even consistently between the two shows. If it were me, I would have named them: tsp2008-08-08.csc.flac16 tsp2008-08-09.csc.flac16 Tyler H. at the LMA can can very easily fix the identifier if the uploader sends him an email. One of my goals since probably last summer has been to start up a faq or blog specifically dealing with the editing of shows and upload to the lma. There's a ton of steps involved, especially with the LMA's very non-user friendly interface. Many things can go wrong and correcting them can be a real bitch. Perhaps I will get on that sooner than later. |

I've noticed your use of the term recordist as of late. What are the origins of this term and do you feel that society is ready to accept it with open arms and willing to integrate it into the lexicon?
