two of my four closest college buddies basically "sold out" as in one is a dutiful super judgemental catholic guilt factory that "hates faggots" as he confirmed with me yesterday afternoon and the other is a lawyer yuppie tool that parrots DNC talking points on his facebook to score brownie points at work (he works in a US congress local office)

and by selling out i mean that the former was a death metal athiest and the latter was a "republican" that had a fetish for soviets

I know what you mean dude. I have a few friends who have gone off the deep end, and others, even though they didn't really "sell out", constantly make me feel like a loser or jerk for diverting from the career path. They stuck to their plan; i'm the same person, i just got a new plan.

but on the real, you seem to be pretty happy, Trots. Good for you. Sucks about them, but if their new world views have caused them to lose your friendship, it's their loss, really.

lots of dumb fucks turn stupid as they get older. kids usually push them over the edge. why? I don't know. Maybe it's hormones. I have a lot of friends who went from being reasonable, open minded people in college to absolute fucktards that I can barely tolerate now. I've run into friends from school via facebook and I've had to unfriend them because they're constantly posting Right To LIfe bullshit.

My two closest friends from college, though, stayed cool. My best friend became a teacher and teaches in inner city schools just like he planned. He's still sort of "out there" politically. And my friend who went through the Philosophy Undergrad program at MSU is now a professor of Philosophy. He still has his ridiculous punk rock name that he changed to when he was 19. Still very open minded. they don't have kids yet, though.
