Ah right, I didn't click with the Adore tracks.
It sounds pretty average IMHO. |

I think it's the only time an original SP song has been improved by not having Jimmy
Love the way he changes the vocal melody a bit during 'and I don't even care' at 1:11 |

Oh I see
Do you play piano? Mike Garson is sort of the Mike Burns of SP piano players |

Garsons like the guy that just wanks around on the guitar for the sake of trying to play like a 3rd rate Stevie Ray Vaughn

He got so fucking lucky that Jimmy had the sensibility to not jack off all over the drum parts

Yeah, I do. I've played most of my life, but I'm classically trained, so I'm a note reader and can't improvise much at all. So if they got me in as a session pianist, I would have played what Mike Garson did, during that take :/ which is why I consider it a bit average...

arpeggios, octaves, fourths and fifths are exactly what I play on a Sunday morning at church when the guitar player & violinist play Celtic ballads during the offering/communion and they ask me to put a bit of piano behind it.
So it's kind of disappointing to hear it on an SP track, especially when the rest of it is pretty cool. |

John Paul Jones is pretty good....to be a good background pianist you need to be an excellent arranger and have an understanding of chord structure that is so well learned that it's innate. You can see in this vid that even when he's playing the solo he's supporting it with a lower part.

(I'd upload or link or something but I'm really bad about dates/shows, sorry) Every time I listen to this song, which is pretty frequently, I think of driving around in my friend's minivan on the starless night MCIS came out, six of us packed in there, just silently listening to this on repeat and being new to having driver's licenses and feeling sort of both at the beginning and end of something in our lives and, just, man I love this song so much |

Yeah, there's no question this is the best Pumpkins song. All of the songs are good, but this one is on a whole different level. Even Billy's acknowledged it; like it gets the same reception in every country they play it in.
About 2 years ago I kept hearing this song on the radio and could never figure out who it was until it came one day in the car with my friend and he knew, but this song is pretty much the reason I'm on this forum. |
