it's disarming for the first 20 seconds and then the first one was boring and annoying, and the second one I was like wtf scratch her damn back already, and I skipped through the video and she must scratch her back for all of 30 seconds total what a fucking let down.

I love back scratches, so that was a very disappointing video. I have no need to vicariously live moments where a girl taps her fingernails on the back of a brush.

i've been thinking about this thread the last couple of days.

i understand what this stuff is designed to trigger, and sometimes it almost does sort of work on me. but the more videos get posted, the more i analyze how much of a creepy manipulative ruse this whole thing is (the motive behind which i'm unsure of), and all i know is that a person who can fondle a camera for 30 minutes as if it were a loved one in a particularly calm and blissful situation - that's just terrifying psychopath shit to me, and makes my trust in people (and women in particular, issues courtesy of my ex) ever so much more fragile.

I don't think it's creepy personally. It is a little strange at first, but ultimately it's not so different than other situations where people essentially simulate affection with a stranger to make them feel good, e.g. getting a massage. I also don't know if I actually have ASMR I guess because I only successfully really get the tingling when I am stoned, but it does make me feel very calm and at ease, and sort of like someone is actually doting on me and paying attention to me. We are probably programmed to crave this kind of personal attention... other primates love grooming each other and shit.
