Adore has some great songs and some legendary moments, but it also has some stuff that's aged horribly. Apples and oranjes is one of the worst offenders

When I hear Adore, I don't hear 90's, I can't think of any album that really sounds like it

The bells and whistles in Daphne Descends are all pretty embarrassing too

there was a lot of alternative bands that started incorporating the electronica stuff into their sound in the late 90's.

People like to think that the pumpkins were just "breaking new ground" but in reality it was just the big trend of the time.

that's one of the ones i was thinking of
if that's dated then so is hummer? i don't know, makes no sense to me. i mean a good amount of guitar things bill does are some kind of homage to 70s/80s artists so naturally some of the electronic parts would follow that kind of ideology as well

but it's not like fuckin TFE where the drum machines were dated before it even came out

just one complaint i never got and will never get

yeah i mean, the first thing i thought of when i first heard ava adore was "barrel of a gun" by depeche mode but
that's really just a big drum beat with electronic elements kind of thing

the album... i don't know, go watch the video for The End is the Beginning is The End or something then come back and tell me the music on Adore is dated, lol

I know it wasn't breaking new ground, but I always thought Corgan's take on electronics was pretty interesting and unique as compared to other 90's bands who all sounded like they were trying to be Aphex Twin.

I always wondered what Nirvana's electronic album would have sounded like...

There was so many bands in the late 90's trying to incorporate electronica into their sound for a more "industrial approach" and it all sounded the same. So in that regard you hear it and it's like "yeah, that's stereotypical late 90's for ya". The same can be said for songs like Today as well. That definitely has a lot of the grunge, 90's elements to it... But it's simply a more timeless track because the melodies are so fantastic.

Your argument is because you don't like it as much it's more dated.

I think some of the melodies on Adore are as good as the ones on Today

Cause like SP they famously ditched their alternative sound for a more trendy approach?

Bush released this as a lead single on their cd long before Adore and it has all of the adore "trademarked" bells and whistles on it

Also, that song sounds nothing like what is on Adore.

Adore is an album that I appreciate more and more as I get older and my musical knowledge grows

Oh please. Electronica and Manson was the huge thing in the late 90's and theres Corgan with his new release amped up with electronica and look, he's as goth as can be now!

A lot of people turned their back on SP cause they saw that Ava Adore video and their whole new approach and no one was busing it. It was obviously he was just desperately chasing the whole Manson fad.

I actually think it's the other way around with Billy in terms of the electronics trend.

Corgan has always been into the electronics of the 80's but the times called for big Rock guitars.
In a lot of ways Adore is the album he wanted to make from the start I think.

You can also hear him moving towards electronics in MCIS
