Default Did Corgan ever fix the MCIS reissue on vinyl?

Dug out my copy of MCIS, ran it through a vacuum record cleaner, and the inner groove distortion on Zero is still asinine, and the album has an unacceptable amount of surface noise. Sounds good loud, but it made me wonder, are the newer versions of this box set fixed?

I’m assuming we’re all left to get fucked (those who bought it originally) but just curious.

If I remember correctly the problem ended up being shitty turntables and not the record.

Wouldn’t consider my gear lightweight (Pro-Ject 2X w/ a Blue Point No. 2 cart)...it still has severe inner groove distortion.

Muzzle also pans left to right which it doesn’t do on the CD.

Remember, it got yanked off of Amazon because so many people claimed it as defective.

Yeah it was put right back when Amazon realized people don't know how to align a cartridge.

People with good properly setup systems have zero issues with it.

All how many thousand of them?

It's not inner groove distortion.

it's the music is loud and runs incredibly close to the center of the disk. If you have the wrong needle or a bad alignment this throws everything out of wack making the distortion. there is no distortion in the track itself. it is caused by how the needle aligns with the track.

It’s a poorly made vinyl. Nobody with an ounce of knowledge about vinyl records would press anything that close to the fucking label.

My system probably costs more than you make in a year—I work in AV for a living as well—and the record is defective. Maybe you’re just deaf.

You linking to Steve Hoffman invalidates your entire argument when that forum is nothing but bullshit “you’re doing it wrong” snake oil cable riser 70 year old Golden Ears.

Get fucked.

Bro. As grooves get closer to the center they get smaller, containing less data. That’s why there usually is substantial deadwax. The grooves are so small on A that Zero physically cannot contain the amount of data needed to play it properly, mainly with bass-heavy/noisy tracks (like Zero).

Most famous case of this was Peter Gabriel’s So and In Your Eyes, which he wanted to end the album but the limitations of the format made him put it on the beginning of B.

The EU pressing has more deadwax than the US, I was just simply wondering if they fixed the fucked up US versions or made it right for anyone who bought it early.

So do you also think RL's are shitty defective pressings also?

Waits as he tries to google what an RL is then comes backs and throws an insult.

Then why is the distortion not present for everyone.

Oh because it's dependant on the turntable.

So you don't know what perhaps the most famous pressing in music history is but you are lecturing about pressings.

Lol, stop acting like you’re special because you meet up at local audiophile shows and post about the “veil being lifted” on Steve Hoffman.

If you’re talking about II, that’s a dynamic range issue, not IGD.

Subsequent US pressings were fixed to contain more deadwax like the EU version but there's no way to tell unless its unsealed.

They must have smaller amplitudes in the inner section to avoid tracking problems.
Which easier happen on cheap, bad calibrated turntables...

Interviewer: "Did you ever fix the MCIS reissue on vinyl?"

Corgan: "Not really, no. Honestly, I think the best Mellon Collie vinyl reissue I’ve ever made I haven’t released. It’s sitting in a can at home."
