The problem is not that he likes the band, it's the appearance of thinking they are good for a band who is chick fronted. I do not believe he would have brought up the band otherwise, and especially wouldn't have brought up the lead singer's skills on guitar (because they are not extraordinary).

I'm not saying fuzzy is or isn't sexist - I think he is legit trying not to be with threads like this. But like pointing out the person who robbed him was black even though it had no impact on the rest of what happened, it betrays some kind of prejudice

Fuzzy acknowledge this in that thread about the person who robbed him, so at least he thought about it. For the record, I would want people to point out me being sexist/racist/etc so I could understand where they were coming from and decide if I needed to change my behavior

he said "It's great to see a woman front-person who can actually play." later he said that who knows, maybe the male guitarist is actually playing the solo. can you imagine him even bringing up that possibility in the context of two male guitarists?

i mean you're right i am reading something into it that isn't obvious. and it really isn't that big of a deal in the scheme of things. it just grinds my gears that he thinks she's some kind of amazing guitarist when he would not say that about a man with the same skills

let's make a list of people who can't play lead guitar. I'll start the list:

I know you look for any excuse to defend his numbnuts posts, but it's kind of weird that when he says something obviously sexist you still do.

"i just said something positive about a girl who happens to be in a band and play guitar. a compliment. i fail to see how that makes me sound sexist."

Thought maybe Elphenor had broken into his dad's liquor cabinet/record collection for a second there.

Not true dingleberry. I'll name a few just random/obvious ones that pop to mind

Stevie Ray Vaughn (check out some of his Austin City Limits performances, fucking epic)
Clapton
Jimi Hendrix
J Macis
Rivers Cuomo

These of course are some of the good ones. I could name endless shitty lead guitarists who also sing.

I hear people in real life and on tv shows all of the time say things like " that black guy, that fat guy, that ugly guy, that hot chick, the girl with glasses ETC ETC.

Is it simply a sin to lazily explain a vague appearance of someone to one another?

I was reading an interview with some artist (the names slipped my mind) and the interviewer mentioned something of him "sounding like a white guy" and the guy was white. "how fucking dare they say he's a white guy"

that doesn't mean anything, fuzzy.
just because you can list a large amount of guitar playing singers, doesn't prove that there aren't more lead singers that don't play lead guitar.

how can you be this stupid?

"dingleberry"? hah. that's funny.

I give TJF a bit of a break because they are untouchable live. But their latest is just fine. I like Wolf's Law a lot still.

i like this female fronted band a lot and it's made better (for me personally) because she's latina in a sea of a white dominated sound. you go, girl. i'm so disappoint i didn't pay to see them last time they were in chicago and now they're a bit bigger and playing at millennium park on june 22nd this year, which is the day of the wedding i will be at in LA. booooo.

the guy who plays the violin reminds me of ghetto squirrel in a way.

Chickenfoot (and everything Sammy Hagar, really) is the very definition of dad-rock.

The Big Roar is the big one for me. The other two are pretty solid but nowhere near as enjoyable to my ears.

I've only ever seen them once -- opening for Foo Fighters in 2011 -- and they were rock solid live. Sounded great, totally not out of their element in the arena.

they played last year for free at Founders Brewery here in GR. Solid set and actually much better than a couple of years ago when I saw them open for Silverson Pickups
