Yeah, I'd be down for Sanders.

There needs to be a shakeup. If Hillary Clintons defeat teaches us anything, it's that the cookie-cutter establishment politicians aren't gonna fly next time around. At least I sure hope they don't.

But in politics, often times it's a step forward followed by 2 steps back.

What I've been hearing is that the DNC is really going to make a push for Elizabeth Warren, to this time succeed in getting the first women president elected. Whatever the case, if Pence is seriously gonna be the Republican nominee, the Democrats will find it easy to stroll into the oval office.

Sanders' policies would be in most cases the complete opposite of Trump's, so your position is wildly inconsistent. You are caught in a cult of personality and don't realize it. You talk shit about liberals and yet would be down with one of the most liberal candidates in decades who would seriously be a contender.

I just don't think Trump is having a good time and it's obvious there's big issues going down with Melania. I can't see Trump wanting to do that shit until he's 78.

An Elizabeth Warren VS Mike Pence election would be terrible for the United States and the rest of the world.

Funny thing about people like fuzzy is that even though Hillary lost, they just can't stop invoking her name.

Let it go, rod. I really don't care. Do u?

again, fuzzy was politically unconscious before summer of 2015 when snake oil don stroked his small penis ego fragility in the right way and suddenly he thought he was some kind of fuckin authority on politics. remember how he loved trudeau and hated obama and had no idea they are almost exactly the same?

he treats it like a game because that's what it is to him. he doesn't have any kind of real background in politics or policy or even ideology or mythology or narrative or rhetoric so none of this is real in his world. the people who suffer when someone like trump leads, he doesn't care because he's never met them. they aren't in his sphere, so they basically don't exist

I know strategists claimed last fall that ticket could win, but currently were are at a point where the main media talkingheads (and by main I mean Fox) casually say things like "but those aren't OUR kids" - and the same bulk that voted Trump agrees.

that a 2x female ticket will lead to anything but another kick in the guts, that I will believe the second it happened.

I think the left is suffering from a complete failure of imagination, something Trump does not have a problem with. If we keep playing by the rulebook, we will keep losing. Trump excites people because he is different than anything from before.

Besides, if you analyze who actually voted Trump in and who didn't vote for Clinton, the problem was suppressed liberal turnout and engorged conservative turnout. We probably can't do anything to suppress Trump's cult of personality voters, so we should we looking to bring out the entire base/obama coalition

The Dems should also be working to create an image of being the opposite of Trump in every way possible.

It also seems like the corporate dems are still doing everything they can to handicap the actual progressives in the party. They had even proposed a party policy to not let primary candidates say anything that could "hurt" the eventual party nominee's chances in the general election.

I also kinda worry that Trump being so awful will mean that people will be content to have anyone who isn't as bad as Trump, and whoever the next administration is will get a free pass for clearing a very low bar.

Nope, not true. Trump and Sanders actually ran on a ton of the same things. That's what a lot of people seem to overlook. Their policies on trade were pretty much the same, they're both against the deep state and the government swamp. They both think America interferes around the world too much and want less war whereas someone like Hillary Clinton wanted more war.

Don't get me wrong, there's a lot I don't like about Sanders. A lot of his proposals would only make people more reluctant on the government, and that is never the answer. But the guy at least isn't a swamp creature and when compared to these other rotten Democrats, he's the best that the people could hope for.

You can tell by how the Democrats scrambled to sabotage him that he wasn't one of the usual puppets.

Here's one of my political idols, Ron Paul, talking about how they're similar in a lot of ways

I still have no idea why the Democrats were so hell bent on making Hillary Clinton their candidate. Was the strategy to pick the politician with the most baggage they could possibly find? They had a gift horse staring at them with Sanders and then they go and plot against him. Doesn't get any more corrupt than that. It's part of the very essence of why people are fed up with Washington.

People don't let it go because most people couldn't believe how passionately liberals seemed to believe in her. I remember when she won the nominee there was people crying tears of joy and so inspired whereas anyone with a little political knowledge was just dumbfounded by the response. It really illuminated how clueless a lot of these liberal types are.

Well, by all accounts and purposes, Hillary is still the face of the Democratic party. No one else has stepped up to take the spotlight.

agree on that, but I can only go by the limited pool of people who are allowed to vote in the US that I am talking to about stuff like this.
the majority of them didn't vote the last time, they aren't invested in keeping up with the flavor of the month on the Dem side, and I have serious doubts that "small-scale-names" - to the wider population - like Gillibrand and Harris would get them to vote next time.
Those who voted last time on the Dem side will show up anyway (or so I would hope, who the fuck even knows at this point), but the rest - I don't see what these two names are associated with that would turn non-voters into voters.

in the end it might not matter, and as Disco King said - anyone that isn't Trump might simply be enough. or will have to be enough by the looks of it.

sometimes I wonder if the Democratic leadership wants to win elections, they aren't putting a focus on the things that'll drive a high turnout
