I like this as a thread premise, getting us to see the beauty even in the dreck. Here's off the top of my head:
1. "Zowie" 2:42 onward 2. "Processional" 3:56 onward 3. "The Spaniards" 4:09 onward 4. "Aeronaut" 3:41 onward 5. "The Long Goodbye" 2:44 onward 6. "Half-Life of an Autodidact" 3:28 onward 7. "Amarinthe" 3:55 onward 8. "Antietam" 3:17 onward 9. "Mandarynne" 3:57 onward 10. "Shiloh" 3:12 onward 11. "Archer" 3:42 onward |

Knights of Malta: James Iha "backwards" guitar solo. Basically the same trick he used on "I of the Mourning". That one little part of the song, with no vocals, the bass and drums going in perfect sync, and the solo are the most "Pumpkins" sounding moment of music since the original run. Even the string section adds some nice elegance Start at 1:32.

I think it makes more sense to make a thread for shitty moments in otherwise great songs
"hear the prairie sound in a friend called Neil" et al If it's a shitty song I'm not listening to it only for the last note on the guitar solo |

Or how about shit moments in otherwise good songs?
The middle 8 in With Sympathy (1:42) is basically just unwritten. I imagine he had some ambitious ideas that in practice ruined the tone of the song, so he decided just to go with 15 seconds of click track and boring bass. Ruins the song for me. |

but actually answering to this thread
Take Me Down has the coolest dark, brooding, jazzy opening chords It would have been great if the song didn't become a sappy saccharine bore within like 8 bars after that |

i prefer the positive implications of great moments in shitty songs but it also implies i've listened enough to said shitty songs to gather this round of great moments
that said, gotta pop off this easy 1: b0llson's solo in Song for a Son |

I really say it: Alienation- the part from 3:33 onwards
Isn't it sad that must pick small parts out of songs to prove that barcy is still capable of writing good songs? He isnt cause otherwise he would have proved it. Sadly too , oceania with mikkiburned and sexy fiorentina is still best rated and not bad at all |

Remember seeing some video they posted on their social media at the time of Billy laying down that solo in the studio, and thinking maybe - just maybe - he could pull of something interesting with TbK. Then we heard the final song, which I do not hate as much as some, but it was not nearly as dynamic as when Jimmy would come out and play guitar on 1979 or in the small clip during Mayonnaise in Vieuphoria where we see Billy playing drums and later he would play timpani in 2008.

Definitely the Tarantula breakdown. Only time he’s come anywhere close to the old SP sound and vocals. Oh, and I guess he sings like he used to (somewhat) in Marchin On. But mainly Tarantula’s breakdown.

Maybe the first 45 seconds of Dorian? Everything on that album is ruined by repetition. Even short songs are repetitive.

I always liked how the ode to the alien weekend melody sounded in Anti-Hero. Fucking wretched song otherwise
