Hey, audio people, help me choose a nice pair of wireless headphones that cost no more than USD $200. No earbuds, no need for super fancy features and preferably not ugly as fuck.
GO! |

Well for starters, avoid wireless headphones.

Bose actually stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment.
How much do you want to spend, Swine Queen? If you are in the market for something nice IMO you should go to an audio outlet and actually try a bunch of headphones with your own music to decide what sounds best to you. |

Read my post. Anyway, yeah. I'm a little put off Bose since I saw an infomercial for one of their products and I don't know. Makes you wonder... I suppose going somewhere and testing options would be the smartest move. I just thought that netpho would have enough audio freaks that might provide immediate recommendations. Again, I don't need anything super fancy. As long as it doesn't completely kill the bass, I'm pretty happy. |

TBH I don't know anything about wireless headphones, and I'm not a big time audiophile but I would personally not buy Bose or Audio Technica. Both brands (and there are others like this as well) are adept with their marketing but are generally looked down upon by people into high-end audio. I know this sounds pretentious and yes maybe you will find a pair of Bose you love, but in general I think their equipment sounds pretty shit and is like twice as expensive as it should be for the quality. You pay a lot for the name. For $200 you should be able to get a really nice set of phones that will give you years of enjoyment. Maybe someone here has more specific advice on what you SHOULD look for, but ultimately you should read a bunch of reviews online (but like on an audio forum or something, not amazon where people think beats by dre are a quality product) and then go play around at an audio place |

I ask Tim to inspect all my audio purchases. He charges me $98/hour for consultation.

none of those cost more than $10 plus you got the beef and you can just ask for no tomatoes. that's pretty good free advice you hypothetically asked for and received.

A really, really great headphone maker is Grado. The SR80s are the end all be all of headphones that you can get for $100. I have never put on another pair of headphones for that price which match the clarity, separation, and natural sound of Grado SR80s. I think Grado makes wireless phones now, it might be worth checking out cause they are serious quality products.
A big downside is that their headphones are open-back, so they aren't really usable for listening in public, at the office, on transit or whatever. They bleed sound pretty badly. But if you are looking for overall sound quality at the best price, you cannot beat Grado IMO. |

I'd just go for anything from the Smooth by Santana series, if I were you.

I think part of the confusion stemmed from the fact that you're inquiring about the best version of the worst headphones. A lot of people here don't know how to quantify bad. All bad is bad to them. They couldn't make a top ten list of bad things from worse to worst, or see good points in terrible things.

pero what do you know about headphones that "a lot of people here don't know"? all headphones are mostly the same to me. if they work, i like them. kinda like beer. the "best" is subjective and you need to figure it out for yourself. |
