i definitely try to achieve that paul mccartney/nick drake type of tight, cerebral songwriting thing

i probably don't do 'pop', and am certainly not anybody mccartney should be losing sleep over, but i like trying

one of the nicest challenges in songwriting is taking a 4 chord sequence and fleshing it out into a song with distinctly different verse, bridge, chorus sections, etc

Cranberries perfected that at the time

So I've been prepping these vids for a couple drummers and I can't believe the first cut of this album is gonna have about a 9 minute outro and sit close to 14 minutes, but that's what its looking like. Still a work in progress, the fixed/planned solo comes before a fluid/improv one:

Here's my first real step into the industrial world. Thoughts on this? I'd love the feedback.

Excellent! A lot going on, but contained in form without a wayward moment to speak of. On first pass, it sounds like you accomplished what you wanted. That's about the best compliment I can give.
