With 100% certainty I will say my band is better better than GnR just by the virtue of not being GnR

Still a bummer, you think if they'd do it at this point that they'd go the full monte

Adler included would of been cool, but not totally necessary. Izzy on the other hand...that's a BIG miss. oh well, they'll almost pull it off I guess.

Recipe for Appetite for Destruction (serves 1 appetite)

1 oz. Aerosmith
1 oz. UFO (substitute early Scorpions if no UFO available)
.5 oz. Zeppelin
.5 oz Alice Cooper
a pinch of Queen
stir with Ted Nugent's guitar until cold (1-2 min.)
express oils of Ramones over the top of the drink
flourish with a sweaty old bandanna

Smashing Pumpkins is a much more complicated cocktail

3/4 oz. Beatles
.5 oz. Cheap Trick
.5 oz. Black Sabbath
1/4 oz. of Neil Young
1 tsp. Queen
1.5 tsp. The Cure
1.5 tsp Hendrix

muddle in some Boston
add David Bowie but separate out the yoke in a different cup before adding
give it a dry shake for ~15 seconds, then add ice and a sprig of Michael Schenker's guitar chops, shake again, and strain

glass must be rimmed with Pink Floyd and garnished with My Bloody Valentine

this drink only works if you are candy flipping and plan on alienating your friends by the end of the night

my aunt who is really into 80s/90s music always tells this story that she went to see GNR in the early 90s and Axl was too fucked up on something to stand up on stage, so he kept falling over and they had to carry him off after a few songs. A female backup singer came to the front of the stage and sang all his parts with the rest of the band and finished the show.

Yeah. I feel like if they're just getting Duff and Slash in again that it's not really a reunion, especially since Duff already played on the entire last tour with guns, so it's essentially just adding Slash.

Izzy not being there sucks, but if he refuses to do it theres not much you can do and Fortus is pretty kick ass. I think if they're not down with Adler that they should at least get Matt Sorum from the Illusion days back on board if nothing more to add a legitimacy to the "reunion" idea.

Either way, it'd be a cool tour to see Slash back with the group again, but I actually liked a lot of the Chinese Democracy stuff, it's almost like taking a step back just going back to all of the old songs people have heard a million times.

I still firmly believe if they wanna make it epic it's gotta be the Appetite lineup or bust

I question the legitimacy of this. That happening in the early 90's would have been a huge part of GnR folklore. In Slashes book he does mention that early on in their tenure once Axl didn't end up making it to a show they were opening up on time so they ended up playing it without him. Axl was never one to get fucked up before shows and didn't really do any drugs or anything.

That is true, but that's different than him showing up too fucked up to stand and not being able to perform.

Now that I think about this more, I seem to remember an occurrence where he was having problems with his in-ear monitor and just stormed off the stage in a temper tantrum after a few songs or something. That may be the gig RGB's aunt is thinking of.

funny cause i thought it was cringe THEN and I still think it's cringe now.

But i will not deny liking at least 3 or 4 GNR songs, despite axl. Something i wouldn't have thought possible when i was 14 and hated the shit out of that band and any of its fans (which meant most people where i'm from).

I had Appetite for Destruction and their greatest hits when I was 14 or so. I did like a number of their songs but when one is discovering SP, one does not have time for this nonsense

I thought they were a legitimate rock band, because I knew nothing at all about pop music....kind of funny to think about that period of my life, now. I was also really into NKOTB, Baywatch and 90210. Awesome.

They are a legitimate rock band I think, just a shitty one. They are pop and commercial, but they are just primarily building off the tradition of the 70s and 80s masturbatory guitar bands. Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Sabbath, Queen... all total commercial pop bands, but also shaped hard rock.

The best thing about Rose was his lyrics

Guess I needed sometime to get away
I needed some peace of mind, some peace of mind that'll stay
So I thumbed it down to sixth and L.A.
Maybe your greyhound could be my way

Police and niggers, that's right, get out of my way
Don't need to buy none of your gold chains today
And I don't need no bracelets clamped in front of my back
Just need my ticket till then, won't you cut me some slack?

You're one in a million, yeah, that's what you are
You're one in a million, babe you're a shooting star
Maybe someday we'll see you before you make us cry
You know we tried to reach you but you were much too high
Much too high, much too high, much too high

Immigrants and faggots they make no sense to me
They come to our country and think they'll do as they please
Like start some mini Iran or spread some fucking disease
They talk so many goddamn ways it's all Greek to me

Well some say I'm lazy and others say that's just me
Some say I'm crazy, I guess I'll always be
But it's been such a long time, since I knew right from wrong
It's all the means to an end I'm, I keep it movin' along

You're one in a million, ooo, you're a shooting star
You're one in a million, babe, you know that you are
Maybe someday we'll see you before you make us cry
You know we tried to reach you but you were much too high
Much too high, much too high yeah, much too high, oh, no, no, oh, oh

Radicals and racists don't point your finger at me
Well I'm a small town white boy, just tryin' to make ends meet
Don't need your religion, don't watch that much TV
Just makin' my livin', baby, well that's enough for me

You're one in a million, yeah that's what you are
You're one in a million, babe, you're a shooting star
Maybe someday we'll see you before you make us cry
You know we tried to reach you but you were much too high
Much too high, yeah, yeah, yeah, oh, much too high, much too high
Much too high yeah, oh much too high, oh much too high
Much too high, high, much too high, much too high
Ow much too high, oh much too high
