As much as I hate this, I think it will be good for Jimmy. He is the oldest member of the band. He deserves to retire and spend time with his family. I'm hoping that's all this is. If it was something Billy did I will never pay for his music again...

billy should kill the sp name immediately and just do stuff in the vein of TFE. you cannot replace chamberlin. they tried that already and the only reason why it didn't look utterly pathetic is the simple fact that adore did not require a drummer like chamberlin. anything else smashing pumpkins does.

i really hope he just puts the band on indefinite hiatus, even if he gets all emotional and calls it a break up again. give jimmy his space, let him do solo stuff for a few years, then get together in the future whenever you want to again.

i have always defended sp almost blindly, but it's starting to get really sad. what pissed me off was billy selling today to VISA. there's no integrity in that, and for billy to talk about for, what, over two decades now about how important it is to be an artist with integrity and stuff, he goes off and does stuff like that? seriously? let's not forget about the stuff preceding it, like cashing in on guitar hero, the multiple versions of zeitgeist, etc. etc. he does not practice what he preaches. ever since billy found "god" he's been increasingly inconsistent.

i think billy needs to take a step back and take a good hard look at himself. if he is the reason chamberlin left, what a shame that is, they have accomplished so much on stage lately. it's depressing to see that go away. while sp album production values have been lackluster since 2000 or so, the live show was always what solidified this band as something really unique. now...

the band just needs to end. billy's going to look ridiculous on stage with ginger, jeff, lisa, but no jimmy.

"SP2" for as much hate as it gets made perfect sense because it had the two most talented members of the band intact which, honestly, is all you need for the band to be "Smashing Pumpkins". people here don't like to read that, but it's true. but if you take away jimmy, forget about it.

maybe this was brewing for a while and it was just a closely guarded secret? maybe this also helps explain billy's strange apology letter. maybe this is why billy was so insistent that he was never going to play the old catalogue again, maybe that's why they did the 20th anniversary shows, a kind of farewell. billy certainly didn't look broken up in those pictures with sasha.
