Revolver has a hotest chicks in rock issue coming out. Nicole trashed it on facebook the other day...

i was going to come into this thread and say anybody who gives a shit about revolver is pretty asinine to begin with but in her defense it was more of a little aside rant. which is what facebook is for

"Token" is when they frequently play the instrument that requires the least amount of effort/talent to do a passable job. Girls could win if 1) every position in a band were to have roughly the same percentage likelihood that a female was occupying that position (e.g. 5% of guitarists, 5% of drummers, etc.), and even moreso if 2) the likelihood that a female was occupying any given position was roughly on par with males, i.e. 50/50. You know, why do females with a lot of musical talent more often end up playing piano/keyboard in a band rather than learning some guitar chops and becoming a killer guitarist? It's a totally dumb self defeating cultural thing that shows failure of imagination, like how a disproportionate number of college bound minorities end up getting a masters in social work which has some of the worst earning potential and lowest job satisfaction in terms of advanced degrees.
