Orgy / Deadsy appreciation thread
Long time coming. Two of My favorite bands in high school and college. Totally changed my way of thinking about music and opened my horizons about music.
Here is an interview with Jay Gordon from a few years ago. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5oTpSsEn9CA Interview with Elijah and Renn from many years ago https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=r4mloKMogBc Last edited by Catherine Wheel : 11-21-2017 at 10:09 PM. |

I enjoyed their style and sound. They were very unique in the nu-metal era.
Too bad Jay Gordon is a huge piece of shit now. |

He was always somewhat a piece of shit in the sense that he played in Elijah's band and then took his sound and ran with it. But still I did enjoy Orgy. They were Deadsy with more hooks and a more upbeat sound.

I never would have discovered awesome bands like Vanity Beach and the Birthday Massacre who they influenced.

I was going to go back to school in January to go through the IRB process but my mother passed recently and suddenly. So I've just been dealing with that. She was 71. So now I probably won't go back until June.

Sorry. My mom is 66. I am going back to school too.
On a lighter note how do you feel about the nickname Kimono Sharter? |

The problem with threads like these is that every time I enter one, I get an instant nostalgic pang to go back and re-visit these bands from my youth.
And they always suck. |

Hey, who wants to talk about Professional Murder Music? How about theSTART?
Seriously Catherine Shorter, you'd like that stuff if you're still rocking these bands all these years later. |

Also, Christopher Hall had a post-Stabbing Westward band called The Dreaming that was very much in this vein.
You're welcome. |

I loved the Start. I still have their first album Shakedown and Death via satellite. Shame there was never much traction with that band. Or Vanity Beach. Vanity Beach's early stuff was really good too. Orgy fans should love Vanity Beach.

Taproot are too nu metal. Besides Deftones I was never into that scene. I liked the synth rock and cyber metal / synth metal stuff better.

Stuff that has more in common with Gary numan and depeche mode than Korn.

You like The Birthday Massacre? They were pretty well known. A lot more traction than the Start or vanity beach.

What do you get when you mix Cher with Greg Allman? Techno-metal
And seriously is there anyone in rock with a deeper voice than Jay Gordon or Elijah Blue? Even in interviews their voices are scary and haunting as shit Last edited by Catherine Wheel : 11-24-2017 at 10:48 PM. |

I heard their latest release Talk Sick and thought some of it was alright. I like how it sounds more EDM than industrial. Like he's trying to stay somewhat relevant. His lyrics are terrible. Like he thinks he's a rapper now. That's what the lyrics remind me of. and the singing could be better. But I don't really mind the EDM elements.
