I won a pair of tickets and I'm stoked. Can't really afford the trip, so I would've skipped doing the Grand Rapids show if I'd known this was going to happen. But I am NOT complaining! Can't wait to see them at the Metro!

BTW, I purchased 5 raffle tickets and my buddy purchased 2 (I'm the one that won).

Thanks for that! But good news...a kind gentleman from the o-board has an extra, so it appears I'll be in attendance. Can't wait!

they didn't open with Owata in Pittsburgh last night, but when it was played they definitely slowed down and accentuated the whole "goodbye California, i'm coming home to Chicago" bit....there's no way he wasn't thinking about metro. you could see it in his face.

Same here. I've been there a million times and have never watched a show up there. I'm reconsidering doing this. Someone said some not so great things about being up there. I guess it all depends on what time I end up getting there.

What time is everyone planning on showing up?

I'd rather take my 10 bucks and go see "inception" again. Fantastic film.

Question Time of the Metro Soundcheck?

I got VIP tix but the email doesn't say when the soundcheck is. Doors are 6:30 PM but my guess is that soundcheck will be much earlier. Any ideas?

Sounds like there will be two lines? I got an email saying the VIP people needed to line up at the Smartbar entrance. Usually the line goes the opposite direction and around the corner. What did the non-VIP email say?

FUCKING AMAZING.

Very quickly...I'll write more in the morning:

- The Governor was there, declared it Matt Leone Day
- There was an auction...someone paid $10,000 for the guitar Billy played 1979 with
- 1979 was with Kill Hannah and Matt Walker and a dozen other people on stage
- There were A LOT of classic guitars used. The normal gear was shipped to Asia. For example - the bat guitar, a weird looking Fender Jaguar and a Mustang that was used at the first (!) SP show 22 years ago.
- new song debuted, "Blessed Mother"
- I got video of As Rome Burns, United States, Blessed Mother and the 1979 onstage party; also took a million pics

I overheard Joe Shanahan talking and he said they raised $70k and that was before all the auctions + event poster. Matt Leone needed $100,000 and it had to have been pretty close to reaching that after the auctions.

Very emotional night. The crowd was GREATTTTTTTTTTTT. Nicole gave me a pick.

He's a real cool dude.

Blessed Mother is uploading right now to Youtube. It's unedited, so you get some banter. You should be able to search for it in a few hours. I'm going to sleep.
