I'd like to think most people who listen to any form of rock music still know who both bands are today and that's good enough. They both carved out devoted fanbases. Both have fan favorite albums and ones nobody would bother touching ever again.

Arguments from people who are so invested they're willing to dissect reputations and can't argue objectively due to their own bias are worthless.

Now I'm gonna go down to the river and compare these two ducks because they've got those weird corkscrew dicks and I want to see which one's bigger

Because that's a good use of my time

"So hey, it's lovely to met you - so...what do you think of the inclusion of Speed Kills on the Machina vinyl? It totally should have been on the initial album release, just like the Japanese cd...why are you walking away?"

the thing is, that when talking about an artistic career, money is the important factor for so few of them... people choose an artistic career first and foremost for the love of the arts, and as long as they can make a living out of it, they will consider their career to be successful.
and in terms of keeping total artistic freedom and creativity, and in terms of number of different art projects, vs. income achieved, i'd say that sonic youth has had a pretty damn good career.

Smashing Pumpkins: During their peak, became one the biggest bands in the world and critically acclaimed. Then then had probably the 2nd most publicized break up in the last 30 years behind GNR. They came back to lukewarm success but were never able to stay as relevant as the likes of Foo Fighters, Pearl Jam or the legacy of Nirvana. Although they still have the ability to attract 5-20K at a concert depending on the location... just not 20-30K like those bands above... or 50-70K like Metallica.

If you wanna ask who has had more bad publicity and a fallout of fans, ofcourse SP has. The thing is though that you actually have to have that to lose it. And what they have now is still better than anything Sonic Youth ever had.

Come at me.
Find the right muscles. To identify your pelvic floor muscles, stop urination in midstream. Then imagine you are sitting on a marble and tighten your pelvic muscles as if you're lifting the marble.

In some cases, vaginal weighted cones or biofeedback might help. To use a vaginal cone, you insert it into your vagina and use pelvic muscle contractions to hold it in place during your daily activities. During a biofeedback session, your doctor or other health care provider inserts a pressure sensor into your vagina or rectum. As you relax and contract your pelvic floor muscles, a monitor will measure and display your pelvic floor activity.

obscure band? just because they don't play it in your jock rock radio doesn't mean it's obscure. they're a household name. if you asked anyone born after 1995 about smashing pumpkins they would go 'huh?', whereas SY is first band you learn about after you discover nirvana or some other teen music. they're the velvet underground of last 30 years. moderately succesful but influencial enough to enjoy bigger and bigger recognition as years go by. the exact opposite of what happened with pumpkins.

i mean, i guess pumpkins were bigger in the 90s than SY. but so were sugar ray. or that 'two princess' band. or weezer. and it all doesn't matter now. because SY proved to be just a more important band in the longrun.

never in a million years did Mars Carolla think his little post about Sonic Youth & Smashing Pumpkins, in response to Fool of a Took's own post about Kim Gordon & Billy Corgan, would result in 2+ pages of CHAFF!!!!!!

i had a dream last night in which furry corgan called me out in an instagram story. he said something like "fuckface lowlife netphorian whatcolor" and then he tried to tie my real name to it, but he ended up tagging someone else with my same name which created a whole additional set of problems, it was distressing! hahaha
