Pretty Pretty Star is awful and I am not open to any opinion which deviates from this conclusion. I have spoken.

Mina Loy and Camera Eye are pretty cool, the album starts off with potential, but it's overly bloated and uninteresting. A problem that's plagued Corgan in recent years.

I listened to this album, front to back, for the first time thanks to this thread. It's a little better than I remembered, but something about it just feels so exhausting. I guess it's probably the lazy, over simplistic drums. I get why I would always turn it off about a third of the way through in the past.

As others have said, The Camera Eye is a pretty great tune. I like Mina Loy and Now and Then as well. Just about every song has an element or two that I really enjoy, in fact, but I struggle to think of what many of the songs even sound like. There's this sort of elusive, drifting quality to the songwriting that makes it hard to connect with.

That being said, the tour for this looked pretty awesome. Wish I could have seen a show.

I like the direction but the song writing is kinda weird. It’s got some nice textures and guitar playing

Most of the songs do this structure thing of having no real chorus but a verse that goes up 2 or 3 times before dropping right, right down..repeat..repeat..maybe an outro..end

DIA is a good example. It rises and rises and rises and falls to nowhere over and over again.
verseVERSEV E R S E..can i face tomorrow...with you..? Repeat. So it gets old fast

I love Adore, but The Future Embrace is shite. Doesn't hold a candle to Adore. The drum production on TFE sucks. It's like he had 3 drum sound presets on his drum machine.

Yes, let's compare Adore to TFE, cause, you know, electronic music is all the same.

TFE is far more electronic than Adore

So not a single one of the ppl expressing vehement/unwavering hate for Pretty Pretty Star itt are able to identify a single, specific problem with the song

After multiple ppl proclaim various aspects of the song they find pleasing?

Looks to me like Pretty Pretty Star just kicked all your asses, dummies

I listened again and A100 and DIA stuck out more this time. Pretty Pretty Star is fine. I really dislike the cover of To Love Somebody.

This is better than the Zwan album and Teargarden for sure. Hard to say it's much better than Zeitgeist, or even MtaE

Can’t imagine ranking tfe over Zwan

Unless we’re talking strictly mstos, in which case, i’d pls refer the reader back to the turd/poo analogy, supra

I was just talking about mstos. I loved Zwan as a live act.

How many Bits were there? Just the one? I can't remember - was it a pre-recorded thing that he played live only? My memory fails me now that I am an oldster.

If you don’t like this album, and I’m not saying you have to, then there is no hope for liking Bill’s future output. TFE is the model of what a good album looks like from him now: strange, detailed, focused on his songwriting strengths.
