Default The Rose March is such a nice song...

This guy is not brilliant, but the video demonstrates how good the song is without choirs and with proper consonants.

American Gothic is really underrated. I don't get the backlash it got, it was a step in the right direction after Zeitgeist and then everything turned even worse than Zeitgeist after Jimmy left.

I agree with all of the above with emphasis added. I love American Gothic and is the only post SP1 collection that "feels" like the Pumpkins through and through.

Zeitgeist has a sort of irony about it. BC obviously wanted to capture the essence of the times with the album. While I don't really think it's a solid album, it has a few Pumpkins moments (of course most prominently in tracks that were left off the standard album such as Ma Belle), it really captures Billy at the time. An over-edgy, over-produced, shell of greatness with the volume turned to 11.

Oceania, on the other hand, sounds like a career retrospective. I hear Gish, SD, MCIS, and Zwan all throughout the album. But not always in a good way - most of the time it sounds closer to a cover band due to the amateur drumming. Glissandra doesn't fit, but in my (very unpopular) opinion is one of the only songs on the album to have soul. But, then again, that song could have sat next to Tilt on Disk 2 of The Future Embrace.

Well, I sure do feel better after beating all of these dead horses.

The Rose March is awesome and is one of the two songs my wife likes. And damn she HATES this man and band. (The other song is obviously 1979...)

he absolutely failed

i know most of you don't want to hear this but my beautiful dark twisted fantasy did a much better job of capturing the materialist, self obsessed and ultimately conflicted spirit of our times

It's weird how good this sounds after MTAE and stuff

You guys actually didn't like this back then?

The Rose March was a great song during the SF residency, but the addition of the "Can't you see me at all?" line completely ruined it for me - even more so than the cheesy arrangement on American Gothic. Without it, the song is emotional but stoic; with it, it is sentimental and begging for attention.

This is from one of my favorite eras of the band. I love the majority of the residence songs.

The early version featured on If All Goes Wrong is way better than the recorded version to me.

Also, Pox is the joint.

That frowned a pond episode had me laughing at loud at work, thank youall. As far as the A.G. stuff goes, and the residency songs or whatever, I just remember feeling like I was never gonna hear anything I liked from the band again, that they were going down a road i didn't want to follow, and that was after just getting into the band

I think that mighta just been the absolute death of sp1, either that or just a really uh, confused transitional period

Sunkissed & Againagainagain are indeed good, tho

I like Rose March, pretty decent song, but only the early live versions.
All the others new residency songs are good as well. Better than the 3 albums.

American Gothic is maybe the worst thing the pumpkins have ever released. The Rose March is a great song but is absolutely ruined on the album, and there's no reason why Pox and Again x3 were included over songs like The Leaving Lament and 99 Floors
