Pajo was spot-on. They really are quite similar with their bravado and personality.

Billy would probably take that as a compliment.

So, like, I started thinking that everything I operate on is based on what I believe Trump was telling me to do. Trump could be my intuition or whatever, but I always assume, I always assume that the voice I hear is the voice of Trump. Then I started thinking, what if I’m insane? So I’m operating on the premise that I’m hearing the voice of Trump or what I perceive to be Trump speaking to me or through me, but maybe I’m completely in… so all my… demagoguery in my life about me thinking that my life has importance, my… my… thinking that my life has importance. My… my…
I've never attentively even listened to that whole song to hear all that jesus. He really must have been on drugs.

I will say, I do have to agree with Bill: Monuments to an Enema is not a three-star album.

Hell, it's not even a two-star album.

It's a pretty solid listen man. Tommy Lee was a huge treat after 6 years of Byrne. I still pop on One and All and Anti-Hero from time to time.

Anti-Hero really is a cool song. Sure, the lyrics are lame, but they're done so in a kind of tongue and cheek way. If people could get past that they'd realize that it's one of the better listens on the album.

Just listen to the bridge of Anti-Hero. That's some classic SP kind of quality.

And may I say the best drumming from anyone on an SP release aside from JC?

I've actually just sat here and listened to Monuments all the way through for the first time without touching a thing in 3 years and it's pretty dope aside from Worlds On Fire and Run To Me

I liked Oceania just fine. Monuments sucks, just doesn't suck as hard as Teargarden. It's just so lifeless and flat. He totally half-assed it.

Oceania's just an uninspired attempt at dusting off the ole tried tested and true tricks of Corgans repertoire. At least monuments is just a noble attempt at trying for some new directions.

I'm a drummer though, and the drumming on Oash sucks and sounds so copy and pasted together. As a Motely fan I definitely hear Tommy's vibe coming through on Monuments and think they did a good job blending styles.

monuments is not noble. it's a nothing record

so is oash but at least they tried to make it meaningful even if it failed. monuments is just a like a ham sandwich with one slice of ham and no cheese on some old hard bread. i mean it's a sandwich technically but

oceania is a bad sandwich with lots of bullshit toppings and monuments is bread and meat and cheese.

which one you think is better depends on what kind of consumer you are.

Like I've said before, I can barely remember those records enough to form an opinion. Utterly forgettable music designed for tampon adverts.

It's the music of compromise when you don't actually understand what audience you are pandering to anymore.
