Some of SP's best stuff is just b-sides, and I think that says a lot. Literally any song not on MSOTS is better than anything on the album. Billy is not a good judge when it comes to this.

Even on Ogilala he didn't inclu*de 'Cardinal Rule' which he called one of the best songs he has ever written.

That's about it. There honestly isn't a lot to work with. Some songs I like for Billy's guitar work (Stellar, the intro is sublime, but it gets a lot worse when Billy starts to sing,) but in terms of the compositions and lyrics themselves, the substance just isn't there. A lot of the recent stuff felt refreshing during first listen, because they had that quintessential BC sound (Quasar, The Chimera, Inkless, One and all), but there's nothing under the surface to keep you hooked for longer than a couple of listens.
