They seem like a more credible source than Blast news or whatever. You'd think they wouldn't repost something that's unconfirmed, but we'll have to wait and see I guess.

I love(d) D'arcy, but she was never that great at bass to begin with. Billy recorded all of her parts. I had some live shows on bootlegs where the bass was so out of time that it ruined the song. All the other members have been playing and making music in several capacities. She hasn't touched a bass in 20 years. Plus she's batshit crazy. I completely understand why they passed on her. It would have been a disaster.

I've heard plenty of MCIS live material where she was really holding it down. She had a much smoother style of playing compared to MadM who hit the strings so hard they were always distorted and out of tune.

Linda Strawberry just posted this over at sad machines--

....sooo. She was supposedly “hacked” and the story disappears - now the story is back and spreading... so which lies are the real lies. Is it all a lie?

Okay... following this shit show. It would appear that D'arcy wasn't hacked, as she nuked her whole Facebook at this point. I'm guessing this was confidential information. The Echo people were contacted by D'arcy and told to remove the information.

Yeah, it makes perfect sense for a mini-summer tour in July with some of the original members for a few dates. Peter Hook has even given an interview where he mentioned that his son would be doing some dates this summer with SP. For whatever reason (we have a bunch loaded up), it was decided that D'arcy would not be part of this. As far as I can tell as a Michigander, she lives nearby in complete isolation and always seems to be in trouble with the law and community she lives in. There is no indication that she is healthy. The photographs we have look like something from the X-Files, and her statements and quotes are confusing and rambling. She never continued performing music.

Yeah, SP will be doing some shows... why?... Reports were that Billy was already shopping this around last year. Just a few shows here and there.

He should just stick to making solo albums and doing solo performances.
A reunion of any kind is pointless in 2018.
Smashing Pumpkins type music cannot be done justice live by anybody over 50 (Billy and Jimmy included). If you did not catch the original 4 in the nineties, you missed out.

DING DING DING. Someone who gets it. If you get to the point where you have to practice and rehearse to mimic how you once played, it's kind of pointless.

People get older. They adopt more influences, and frankly, become better musicians as they go on in life.

You know... just remember... somewhere the poor guitarist from Limp Bizkit is out there playing "Nookie" at some casino gig. He is a master guitar player who cites Bjork as his favorite artist. He probably has been listening to a lot of John Coltrane and Delta blues music. Yet, he is out there playing "Nookie" night after night.

He wrote some horrid rap/rock riffs when he was 21, and now wears it around his neck like a 1000 ton anchor.

People want this version of SP to mimic what the poster looked like on their bedroom wall, but it really dosen't matter at this point. They aren't a band anymore. You can't have more. The 28-year-old Billy Corgan in his ZERO shirt, screaming the lyrics to an overflow audience isn't going to ever happen again.

I don't know what was more unrealistic about this whole endeavor from the beginning: the fact that anyone thought it would end in anything but disappointment or that D'arcy was actually going be involved.

I don't think people are expecting an exact replica of the 90s Pumpkins. I think people just want something better than "Billy and the 2 girls he's fucking starring Jimmy Chamberlin, oh and that Jeff guy"

This, pretty much. Nobody with any sense is expecting them to show up looking or sounding like a bunch of young badassses again or for Billy to start screaming like it's 1994, but all four of them present as adults, sharing a stage together, all the garbage and bullshit of the past put behind them - good vibes. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation to have. It's not much, and it's depressing to think she may not be together enough after all these years to even be present for so much as that.

Some bands have musicians in them that perform without being plugged in.
They could have done that with d'arcy, using a hired bassist behind the curtain.

I was much more interested in Darcy in the studio as a psudo producer than live.

It is 101% possible that she just cannot play anymore. She may many other reasons BC/JC were not comfortable bringing her out. Maybe she really wanted too but they saw the writing on the wall it would be bad for her.

I hope she knows how much we all appreciate her contributions to the band/scene int he 90s.

so where is what she announced in her new function as marketing manager and press secretary (on Sad Machines lololol) - Bollster "chimed in" yet, to tell the facts like he usually does?
The longer he keeps pimping out a toddler as instagram hashtag instead, the worse he looks tbh.

So what's the current bet - Corgan's legal dogs barked at D'arcy yesterday, she panicked, got it taken down, nuked her FB, slept over it?

We should post some download links to snippets of tracks nobody cares about, so the paralegals on Corgan's payroll have another fun task.

Bass isn't that hard to play, and she played hundreds of shows. They just don't want to risk their big comeback on her.

I don't even care why she isn't in whatever they plan, there are 10 times more reasons against a reunion of the 4 than there are for it, and that hasn't changed in the past 18 years.

I simply wonder what happened that prompted that article to show up, if anyone in "the band" not only told her the great fake reunion summer tour plans, but also led her to believe she might have any part in it. ´
because it is perfectly fine to decide against making her hit a stage, but it would be beyond asshole level to lead her on.

by the way, how exactly would you market a tour of a reunion when various people toured and put out albums under that name for a decade?
"smashing pumpkins, this time with iha and jeff, no nicole, no bambam, and none of the other 10, but not quite the same as in 2008, and not the original line up, either." - bit long.

billy's voice is terrible nowadays

but somehow it is already D'arcy's fault that they would not "sound the same"

Hey, they have been working on this reunion for more than a year. It was being shopped around around for the festival season this year. It's clear there is a new SP album being recorded. It's clear James isn't involved 100% (Jeff is there), but looks to be contributing a bit. Jimmy is drumming.

D'arcy dosen't appear to be involved. Obviously, Billy can just lay down the bass tracks easily himself.

I'm sure they have had over a year to investigate her whole situation. We can just speculate why they decided against it. I believe they WANTED to do it, but just couldn't. She nuked her Facebook within the last 24 hours, as I just randomly checked it 2 days ago.

That's a relief, I was worried they would have to play bass on keyboards if D'arcy wasn't there

i mean, but why?

didn't BC go flat out saying on record in all those recent Ogibaba interviews that he wouldn't be interested in a reunion unless all original 4 are involved?
