My 12 year agreed to step back from basketball this coming semester because after watching the Ashes he decided he wanted to get back into cricket. Which is fine because basketball requires him to travel across the island 3 times a week, which is either $50 in cab fares or 3 hours of travel time, or some combination of both.

Now I get an email inviting him to join a premier team at a subsidised rate, which will travel to Adelaide over Easter for a tournament.

I dunno. This shit is so expensive . I don't want to be a Dance Mom.

And yet his massive size 10 mens shoes at age 12, pre-puberty, indicate he's probably better built for basketball than cricket anyway. And he only started playing at the beginning of the year, so to go from complete beginner to a premier team in one year maybe indicates he has a natural aptitude for it.

He hates decisions. I don't know whether to tell him or not. We had just agreed to the new schedule with no basketball which felt like a relief.
