We gotta collectively stop this getting offended about everything nonsense.

you don't give a shit about integrity come off it

integrity has nothing to do with whether I like music, but it is normally true that bands with integrity will make better music

I actually do. As long as the effort is authentic then I don't really give a shit. I mean, yeah I get that you guys all hate say a group like NOFX but I don't think there's any arguing that Fat Mike isn't just making that kind of music to cash a check.

But I also like bands with no integrity whatsoever like Bush and shit so hey, I know what you're getting at... I usually give artistic integrity a pass if it's from a band that was big when I was a little kid or earlier... But I'm smart enough now to see if some artist is clearly cashing a check and if they are, it's frankly a deal breaker ...

It's irrational, yes I know. but hey, now that I'm aware, I can't just accept phonie baloney garbage.

I'm not sure it's idolatry. More like being incredibly sad because of a wasted life of someone who knows the pain of loss. He dealt with the same sort of loss (Andy in particular, Kurt to a lesser degree) so something massive must have triggered this.

i agree, it's tragic as hell for reasons that have nothing to do with writing a good tune or the shape of his adenoids.

Or you could find a better band to idolize. Like BORIS.

I idolize BORIS.

After what happened to Dimebag Darrel, fans should be a little more cautious about getting on stage:

@TOC haha that was awesome.

I was reading their memoir and they were hounded by major labels left and right throughout the mid-90's after groups like Green Day, Offspring and Rancid were smash hits and they decided to stay on an independent. He figured they were already doing well beyond their belief with a growing fan base so why fuck it up and chance it? You gotta give the band props for that

FILTER’s Richard Patrick about meeting Chris Cornell at their rehab in 2002:

On September 28, 2002, I was ready to stop drinking so I went to a facility in Malibu to get sober. I was extremely skeptical and as an atheist I did not want to really try. New comers like me always want to shit-can everything. I woke up to some old guy saying "I hear you're a singer." I said "yes" and he said, "there's some other guy here from a band called gardens of sound or some shit. You guys might get along." He was talking about Chris Cornell. I took my first baby steps into a program of recovery that lasted all this time with Chris's help. Chris said "I know this shit feels goofy but it's the only deal in town that seems to work." I wouldn't have gotten it if Chris didn't legitimize the whole thing for me. For 28 days, Chris helped lead the way. You saved my life buddy. I'll never forget you. #chriscornell #gonetoosoon
