The above is the trippy one. These below are the catchy ones:

God this band fucking slays. Buzz sounds excited. He's even playing little tripped out solos!

This is my favorite song on this new album. There's a Buzzo moment a third of the way in, shit slows down hella and mellows out, kinda like the latter half of Blue (tsp in case any of you forgot).

All their music has been "grow-er not a show-er" for me. At first I found the chord changes and vocal melodies predictable and boring, repetitive. But the textures and layers of guitar and the strange tones kept bringing me back for more, until I was hooked. It's some of my fave headphone music now; there's some tricky/dense wizardry on many tracks that's akin to siamese dream levels of detail and immersiveness

that's kind of the thing for me though... it's like they're doing all the right steps but it still doesn't look like dancing.

their production, their arrangements, their whole "thing" is very put together and they have a clear vision as a band

but the songwriting is just not there. It seems "empty" on the inside

this guy played a big part in Tom Waits sound Rain Dogs and onward so naturally his solo stuff is the best because it has 100% less Tom Waits

it actually reminds me of early sonic youth just this particular album

he plays like 6 other styles

I'm not one to usually fawn over a guitar player but

Ribot is awesome but your lack or appreciation for Tom Waits is astounding
