I'll never forget seeing PJ at Golden Gate Park with Neil Young opening. Young was great and all, but Vedder only lasted 5 songs and had to bolt (told a nice about how to be nice to the Taco Bell drive thru guy, because he's the most important person in the world to you at that time). So they trotted ol' Neil to front Pearl Jam and they started with the song Neil's band ended with, Rockin in a free world.

As the crowd flowed out, word got around to hold on to your ticket stub for a later show. That show was 6 months later at San Jose State's football stadium of all places. Eddie apologized ("hey, y'all look a little familiar") and then they rocked the house.

I went to the Rock HOF in the mid-90s and learning about the Sex Pistols was the only thing that stuck with me. I was floored.
