I think a lot of the success will depend on ticket price. People will have more of a "why not go?" attitude if it's reasonable but no one save for "fans" will pay for an overpriced ticket

$35 (what the 2000 UC show was) is about $50 in 2018 dollars. They'd be crazy to put themselves much higher than that.

around $50 is perfectly reasonable, i agree. and it would definitely lead to larger crowds so they would still get their larger paycheck. but i fear they're going to charge around 2-3 times that which will absolutely prevent me (and almost all the casuals) from going. it's hard to justify spending that much to see a bunch of 50 year olds trying to ROCK. when i saw ozzy a couple years ago the tickets were like $45 dollars and that was OZZY. the show was also in a theater, not an arena. -_-

I mean the solo tour was priced at 75. I bet that’s the price point. Or maybe they tier the arena.

RH was about $80 a seat at Moda last year. The Pumpkins can't charge more than that or no one here will go.

Limiting it to the first five albums is a good start, but unless they had decided to play SD start to finish I'm not sure it will move the needle much. Perhaps convincing jaded fans to go? But it's hard to think of a song, or a combo of songs, that would make this a must-go for me.

Radio appearances mean next to nothing. He's got the big budget promo machine backing him now. That's what's important. And they're gonna be pumping the nostalgia ten-fold. Fans will buy tickets... Guns N roses were playing in some half full arenas before Live Nation came on board with Slash and Duff... Then they were selling out 2 nights at stadiums in each city.

A few things are gonna have to go right, but if they can get some radio play with a good new single ahead of these tour dates, tickets will sell like gangbusters. Jimmy was a total last minute addition on the Manson tour... They were actually slated to have the drummer from Theory Of A Deadman playing the tour, but the dumbass leaked all the dates ahead of time on his promotional website and Corgan had a fit and had to change course... This time Billy is doing things right, and I think it's gonna work.

In a long list of embarrassments and gaffs, the fact that SP were going to have the drummer from a Nickleback tribute band at the helm might be the most egregious.
