Question help. my bloody valentine or butthole surfrers?

so i've got tickets to the sold-out My Bloddy Valentine show in chicago. and same night is the Butthole Surfers "homecoming" show at Stubbs in Austin TX (also got tix for that).

both shows should be awesome. though BHS is more of a hassle with the flight and what-not....but i also expect it to be more awesome because of venue size and because i like them better. And its the hometown show! the one where your friends get to see what a successful freak you've become!

vote because i'm completely torn.

Davin, there really is no question here at all. And I think you know that. In your heart.

Go to see the band that is being more sincere. In other words, go to see The Buttholes.

i haven't heard any butthole surfers apart from that one album and i was never really interested in MBV. i actually don't think i'd pay money to see either band. butthole surfers i find slightly more interesting in general though

lol, this decision is srlsy burning a hole in my soul. most of my general music officianado friends are directing me towards MBV just like the results of this poll, i just have a really strong feeling that the BHS show in Austin will be a fucking crazy one-of-a-kind thing because of the homecoming aspect, and because i've never seen them, and because they're touring with the strongest lineup they've ever had.

of course, i've never seen MBV either....and didn't think I ever would. but the same could be said about Naked Raygun or Massive Attack and both of those guys blew me away when I finally got to see them.

well, i guess the poll has spoken.

um, not really, but that comment was misleading.

what it comes down to is that over the last 6 yrs or so, i listen to BHS more than i listen to MBV. they have a more regular spot in my rotation, between all their albums and the live stuff. So I guess I should have said "because I listen to them more" to accurately convey what I was thinking...

ugh, this is killing me. i want to see both dammit. but unfrotunatley there aren't any other BHS options and none of the non-local MBV shows work for me.

I am not "really" needing a ticket, it is a show I would go to if a bud called me up and said "hey lets go" but that is about it, I am only familiar with 2 of their records and see their bassist a bit whenever Honky plays.

I kind of feel like Butthole Surfers would be more interesting live even though I much prefer MBV. I would go with MBV and hope the Butthole Surfers book in somewhere else around you.... who knows if you will ever have the chance to see MBV again?

yea, i completely agree. thats where i landed. BHS has announced a few more days...so i think i'l just try and catch them elsewhere.

i really wanted to go to stubbs because i was expecting some craziness for the austin show. ever see that footage from the devil & daniel johnston? shit looks crazy...and i wasn't even on acid!
