Yeah, you're just like the ocean (under the moon)
Just like the ocean (under the moon)

Chorus:
Yeah, you're just like the ocean (under the moon)
'Cause you're so smooth

I once worked with a dude who, during a music-related conversation, piped up and said "I think Collective Soul are one of those bands everyone likes, regardless of whatever music you're into."

Followed by the inevitable awkward silence.

edit: I didn't mean jars of clay are nu metal. I'm talking about korn, lincoln park, limp bisquick

I thought I had escaped all this music forever... then I got a morning job at our local Amazon Prime Now and oh my god... so many nice decent people playing such AWFUL music. Today I literally heard Ashlee Simpson's peices of you followed by Jessica Simpson's with you. and NO ONE EVER TURNS THIS SHIT OFF!! You cant forget the first song cause of the SNL incident but I had forgotten about the other one completely. UNTIL NOW ahhH!!!

I don't fuck with the net stations on there cause once you play songs people don't recognize, somebody says what the hell is this and it gets changed

Last edited by lawson : 03-19-2017 at 10:25 PM. Reason: nu metal

they play bad music there. Some manager always puts it on some "90's alt rock" (the bad stuff) or '00 pop station on pandora.

He was a generally cool dude who knew seemingly every comic book ever inside out, so we gave him a pass.

Naw dawg, I was confused about your jerb. You work at a local Amazon Prime Now? I know what those words mean but that sentence makes no sense to me.

Not really. It was just basic courtesy. He didn't say anything that actually offended me. I'm not Elph-esque; I don't make it a habit to point out to people that I don't approve of their tastes in pop culture.

Eh, maybe a little passive aggressive, but it's not like we ripped the guy to shreds over it behind his back. Just shared a mutual "You believe this shit?" that lasted maybe two sentences between us.

Honestly, I find that preferable to humiliating the guy and cutting him down in a professional environment in front of others over his lame taste in '90s music.

you think laughing at a dumb comment is more humiliating than awkward silence

Awkward silence at least allows a chance for dignity. I doubt anyone other than me and that other person were thinking how dorky a comment it was.

mocking people behind their backs shouldn't be acceptable behavior and yet its what officefolks think is "professional, mature" behavior

gently teasing them by laughing at a silly comment or even saying "i think collective soul is bad" to him is not "humiliating the guy and cutting him down in a professional environment" all of you are crybabies if people laughing at your bad taste is humiliating

It's the difference between working in the back of a kitchen and working in a bank where everyone has to wear ties n shit to work. You have to maintain some tact. You can't just give people shit over every little thing. You know this, you're smarter than that.

Eh, I'll take my lumps and admit it was mildly passive aggressive, but I still maintain it was the better choice given the scenario.

But. You work in a restaurant. You know as well as I do that that's a different world. The level of camaraderie there is unparalleled. You can be dicks and get away with it in that environment.
