Arrow Official 2006 election voter information and results thread

Please post all election results, last minute predictions, how you voted, election information, etc. here.

For all those voting at the polls tomorrow, below are links to several different sources of information. Feel free to post additional ones (including for specific candidates and ballot measures – just please be sure to include the state, county, and/or city) and I will add them to this list.

Most information about who and what is on the ballot, where you vote, etc. is available from your state’s Secretary of State (or equivalent) website and/or your county’s Registrar of Voters website. All the Secretary of State (or equivalent) websites are below. To find your county Registrar of Voters, simply type “_______ (your county) Registrar of Voters” into www.google.com and it should come up.

If you encounter any issues with voting, you want to contact your county Registrar of Voters and also possibly the Secretary of State (if you feel that the problem was not addressed adequately by the Registrar of Voters). See below for more info about if you have problems with voting.

Most county Registrar of Voters mail out a voter guide, if you do not receive one, your polling location should have some available.

In states where the voter id laws were struck down, poll workers are still being instructed to ask for id, so be on the safe side and bring a picture id and/or voter registration card and/or electric, water, or similar bill with your address.

Note: Most of these links only include statewide candidates and ballot measures. In several counties and cities, there are also local candidates and ballot measures.

General (all nonpartisan):
www.voterstory.org
(If you experience a problem or issue with voting – this is a tool designed to document individual instances or stories where a voter is having trouble voting or has been denied the right to vote, once a “story” is submitted, it will automatically be referred to nonprofit, nonpartisan voter protection organizations that will be standing by to intervene or lend support, if they can.)

League of Women Voters - www.vote411.org (Info for ALL states on where to vote, voter id requirements, candidates, etc., the most comprehensive website out there this year. The League of Women Voters and all its state groups are nonpartisan.)

People for the American Way - www.mypollingplace.com (To locate your polling place.)

For Pennsylvania, the best online site to follow results live is probably the Patriot-News' Election 2006 blog.

Santorum's campaign put out a news release Sunday titled, "Newspapers Agree Rick Santorum is Right for Pennsylvania." This would be the liberal media that Santorum's also been telling voters to ignore.

It's true that some newspapers did say that, but Santorum's campaign used a bit of creative license to make its claim. The truth is quite the opposite.

The score is actually 18-5.

Santorum's been endorsed by five newspapers -- The Wilkes-Barre Times Leader, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, The Johnstown Tribune-Democrat, The Erie Times and the Williamsport Sun-Gazette.

Meanwhile, 18 newspapers, including some that have previously endorsed Santorum, backed Democrat Bob Casey Jr. Casey's endorsements ******* The Patriot-News, Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia Daily News, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Allentown Morning-Call, Scranton Times-Tribune, Wilkes Barre Citizen's Voice, York Daily Record, Lancaster Intelligencer Journal, New Castle News, Herald Standard, Delaware County Daily Times, Observer-Reporter, The Daily and Sunday Review,

For the election pool at work, I'm saying...

House: Dem 219, Repub 216, Ind 0
Senate: Dem 47, Repub 51, Ind 2
JAIL for Judges (South Dakota Amendment E): 23% yes

I'm the least optimistic of my co-workers. But, honestly, at this point little would surprise me.

Dems will gain at the most around 35 seats in the House.

As for the Senate, I have no idea what to predict for numbers. Electoral-vote.com has it at 50 Dem/49 Rep/1 tie. But I do think Republicans will hold it, however not by a large margin. The only other possibility is a tie. Everyone says that's a bad thing, but all the Democrats need to do in that situation is twist one person's arm...

Anyway, should Democrats make at least 3 or 4 gains in the Senate (which they should be able to get with no problem), it will suggest a trend that would hopefully carry on into 2008, therefore eventually leading to a majority. The trend has to stay, obviously.

Oh, for shits and giggles:

http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/...al/fncnov6.jpg

I guess Fox doesn't want to offend their viewers by letting them know the cold hard truth: Democrats are the ones who consistently lead in polls.

I think if the dem's want the White House, having Pelosi, Schumer, the Clintons and Dean parading around the next 2 years with their S.F. Democrat leanings might keep the White House to the Rep's.

what's lost in all this is how these parties consider themselves and their ideology above the good for the nation itself. The entire conversation has shifted this way.

i wasn't implying anyone gave a shit, but it's funny that he says newspapers across the state support him when they decidedly don't.

Eh I'm not so sure about that. Attitudes change. Anything could happen. Pat Buchanan said on MSNBC last night that he's never seen the potential GOP nominees for President be so low. Basically it's Romney and McCain.

Dems holding the House AND Senate I think would actually hurt them in 2008, because people would fear that the country would become entirely way too liberal. The House being controlled by Democrats and the Senate being controlled by Republicans makes it 50/50 and both parties have a pretty good chance in '08.

NIGHTMARE SCENARIO: 2008.

Dem's own the House, Senate, the White House with Hillary while Bill becomes chief at the U.N.

free speech as we know it will be dead. fairness doctrine will be introduced which will muzzle talk radio shows. Universal Health Care will be introduced and the Nanny-state will begin. Cradle to grave sustinance will be expected by an increasingly dependant populace that will be brainwashed into further desensitizing their spirit to fight the Big Brother that cometh.

AIDS vaccine ordered on all people...implants under your skin...as well as a faster pace to the N.W.O.'s wishes of a no currency society. by 2012, we'll be well on our way to not being able to use cash as currency as businesses will be forced by governments to partake in the total control of humanities thoughts, actions and ambitions.

at least, that's what on the docket and on the record as we speak. Liberal Dem's with their Marxist leanings have a way of speeding up these processes. Conservative philo wishes the state to be minimized...ergo, not many true Conservatives left in the party anymore...hence, the big reason they're in trouble right now.

I do find it incredibly odd that the democrats are essentially putting into power their most extreme liberal members (Dean, Pelosi, Schumer, Murtha). I think that's a philosophy that backfired against the Rebuplicans and is sure to do the same against the Democrats

it's been proven that swing voters will often go with who they think is going to win. its not about making an accurate prediction, its about getting more votes. everything is based on how idiotic the average person is

Those predictions, though, take all the assorted polls into consideration. Not enough pre-election polls showed Kerry winning for there to be a trend by which one would really expect him to win. And, hey, Gore did win the presidency. But, of course, they are nothing but polls and predictions. It all comes down to turnout. The higher the turnout, the better it is for the Dems.

I voted.

All Democrat and then for the Senate I voted Green Party, with Leiberman having a strong lead. I guess I'll be kicking myself if it's actually close for Lamont but I don't see it happening.

I voted all Dem except for Mayor and At-Large Council Member where I voted for the Statehood Green candidates. DC has a very boring ballot, nothing exciting.

VA voters intimidated?
From MSNBC's David Shuster

Richmond, VA -- Jean Jensen, Secretary of the Virginia State Board of Elections, confirms that the FBI is now looking into possible voter intimidation in the US Senate race between Republican incumbent George Allen and Democrat Jim Webb. Jensen says state officials alerted the Justice Department yesterday to several complaints of suspicious phone calls to voters that attempted to misdirect or confuse them about election day. She adds she has now been contacted by FBI agents. The FBI in Richmond refuses to comment.

In a written statement issued by the Webb campaign, state Democratic party counsel Jay Myerson says he believes that Republicans are behind an orchestrated effort to suppress votes for Webb. Republican officials, including the executive director of the Virginia Republican party, say the GOP and the Allen campaign are focused on mobilizing voters and have not discouraged anyone from voting.

Haha. Well, it doesn't need to be exciting, it's DC, Dems will always win it.

WTF is up with all of this rain today, especially in competetive states?! Of all the days.
