Red face This is a Yo La Tengo appreciation thread

Yeah. I bought And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out today, and it's absolutely gorgeous. I'm in love.

I only have I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One, and it's rather repetitive and samey-sounding throughout.

Each song seemed to go on and on, sounding the same throughout. Granted, the songs all sounded different, mind you, it's just the songs themselves were kind of flat and had a tendency to go nowhere.

I haven't heard any of the other albums completely through, but I'll suggest And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out. It's so beautiful and tranquil and wonderful. Mmm.

YOU MUST GO OUT AND BUY I CAN HEAR THE HEART BEATING AS ONE IMMEDIATELY.
It's one of the best records, EVER.
It has classic songs like Moby Octopad, Sugarcube, Stockholm Syndrome, Green Arrow, Autumn Sweater...

I really like on our way to fall and Black to Blue..and Last Days of Disco. And Then Nothing....does get a little repetitive to me sometimes, but I still enjoy it. It's good bedtime music.

Electr-O-Pura doesn't get enough recognition. But yeah, Yo La Tengo are fucking awesome. I still need to get And Nothing..., though.

Angry

Yo La Tengo is one of those bands that makes me angry, because they write good music but they exploit their dorkiness and it ruins some of their songs. I'm serious. It sounds funny but they totally do. If you've heard And Then Nothing you should know what I mean.

Bands that are so inconsistent piss me off way more than bands that simply suck. Naturally this is all subjective, but UGH. Some of their work is so amazing, then I have to skip half the album.

Oh yeah I'm quite fond of And Then Nothing... and Heart Beating as one, but I figured you guys already gave pretty glowing endorsements.

James solo shows as Dump are pretty damn good. One of my best 2002 masters for sure.

The Sounds of the Sounds of Silence is really incredible as well. See if you can find it on Soulseek.

The time I saw them live before owning any albums was the best. Thanks to Jimmy/silvergeek for that one. They are an amazing live band.

I own Electr-O-Pura and And Then Nothing..., and have heard all of I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One and Painful. Electr-O-Pura is my favorite, if that helps appropriately disqualify my opinion.
