gimmick goes with the word "cheap." It's negative. it's not this fuzzy huggy definition you've fished from some bullshit site somewhere. "a trick or device intended to attract attention, publicity, or business." you want to judge music for musics sake but you don't hear babymetal and go "good lord this is manufactured gimmicky horseshit" so you basically fucking failed but what could i expect from a fake goth buttrock fan that loves anything in facepaint Last edited by Trotskilicious : 01-20-2015 at 06:22 AM. |

baby metal sucks... But Japan is fucking leading the way as far as new Rock music goes
This absolutely trashes any of that Mumford and sons shit. Like honestly, the guitar solo for this song outdoes some of the alltime best and it's done in an energetic, fresh fashion. |

Come on man, you have to appreciate the energy, the performance value and the musicianship of that group... It's not even a kind of music that I actively listen to anymore, but watching those guys live is entertaining as hell.

You guys might not also realize that Sex Machine Guns regularly sell out enormodomes out in Japan. They're absolutely huge. The biggest, current band out in North America is probably like Mumford and Sons, Arcade Fire and Coldplay and the entertainment value that Sex Machine Guns provides just slays those groups.

I mean that Rock and Roll music is dead over here... It still exists in it's cult formations, but it's not popular amongst the general public anymore... The stuff they play on rock-radio now adays is abysmal... BUT over in Japan it's absolutely huge. Theres excitement for it and theres new groups all of the time coming out that rock with the same intensity and precision of the now-dinosaurs that all of the crusty old guys long for.

No I'm not trollin. Sex Machine guns isn't without their ridiculous cliches and faults, but it's almost part of the charm... Kind of in the same way that makes Turbonegro great.
I'm not even into their studio stuff at all, I just like watching their live performances because they absolutely bring it in the intense, rock fashion that is just dead out in North America. It's the whole spectacle, and these guys nail it. |

That Boris band sounds like they have potential, but the track you posted isn't really doing much for me.

And Rock does not mean recycled 70's metal riffs, Arcade Fire Rocks harder than anything Fuzzy likes could ever hope to

fuck this bands pretty tight. I'm incredibly attracted to the guitar player. It really seems like they would flourish with a lead guitarist though.

Arcade Fire has a handful of great tracks. The Sprawl 2 is one of my favorites that I still listen to regularly- (Wouldn't have checked it out if it wasn't for Netphoria)... But one thing they absolutely don't do is "rock".
