Billy is playing a character, he says so himself, and I happen to think that character works better when cast as a thinner person. No fat shaming intended, for my part. The subtext of his act is of someone who has unending need, but his physical being tells us that this is someone whose Maslovian needs are satisfied. All popular music is theater to some extent, even those rebellious musicians that say they don't have an act, actually are putting one on at that moment. Billy's outward appearance matters, it's the business he's in. If I were in Billy's shoes, I would hit the gym if only because I thought is went hand in hand with my chosen profession.
