um there hasn't been much good so far.

the times new viking album is great. new mountain goats i liked a few tracks at first and have since taken a break from it. i'll go back to it soon and decide whether or not its good.

brian wilson shock treatment put out another awesome album, and that's about it.

other stuff ive heard:

cat power - bad
cadence weapon - haven't listened properly yet
destroyer - bad
mahjongg - haven't listened properly yet but sounds good
stephen malkmus - didn't sound like stephen malkmus, could be a good thing, need to listen more

Helio Sequence and Vampire Weekend

HS because they have some really beautiful songs on the new one, and VW not because they're "blog favorites" or whatever you want to call them, but because the whole album is full of catchy songs.

this is my list so far -

The Steeldrivers - The Steeldrivers
Shelby Lynne - Just a Little Lovin'
Fuck Buttons - Street Horrrsing
Stephen Malkmus - Real Emotional Trash
The Magnetic Fields - Distortion
Hot Chip - Made In The Dark

Although I've listened to a bunch that I haven't put on the list yet. Maybe I'll do that this evening and keep you all waiting in breathless anticipation.

the new black mountain album is awesome. like a modern day jefferson airplane meets sabbath meets gnr meets floyd.

be patient with the bright light/light bright song, it gets good.

p.s. the new hot chip blows goats.

they would have been perfect playing a solo show. But the mere fact that they were opening for Dead Meadow...

fucking tight shit. I never really cared for them until i heard the new record. They've taken everything good about bands like Blue Cheer, Love, V.U, im really enjoying it.

they've definitely made a big departure since the self-titled record. and it was for the better. good call on the blue cheer. hopefully i will get to see them soon.

Edit: hell yea. just got tix for 3/22 @ empty bottle. they're headlining over 2 other bands.
