Default maybe it's because I'm a little bit drunk

but thefutureembrace is not sounding so bad right now

at least billy was making some interesting sounds in that era

I admit it. I like the album. You can hear a lot of good new wave and synthpop influences in that one.

His best shit since 2000, for sure. It's not ridiculously pretentious or shallow. It's just great creativity. And on a good system, it sounds awesome.

I pretty much agree with redbull's categorization but I think I'm Ready is a lot worse than any of the others. It's not a great record by any stretch, but it's still interesting and it has some good songs on it. A lot better than the vast bulk of anything he has done since.

I love Tilt. It's cute. The one thing I didn't like about that CD is the feedback or distortion or whatever it is on some of the songs. Maybe I'm not musically sophisticated enough to appreciate it because it just annoyed me. I think TFE deserved more kudos than it got at the time.

Also, yay to drunkenness.

I really like the super-overdriven, compressed tone as well. The style is pretty outside the box for Billy.

I <3 All Things Change, Walking Shade... and that's about it. There's some other okay ones but those are the only ones I care about.

I still don't understand why he left "Tilt" off of TFE.

Probably the same reason Riverview, Friends as Lovers and A New Poetry were left off of the Zwan album.

I'm Ready is my least favorite of any Billy songs, Pumpkins or solo. It makes me physically angry and reminds me of Spongebob Squarepants at the same time.

Other than that, I still give the album a spin when I'm driving late at night. I can dig it.

I loooved TFE. I am sad he didn't play Bit5 in Toronto, I love that song and it also has my favorite light show on the LED background screens.

His experimental stuff can be good, but it can also be so off the wire that only he's able to appreciate it. That's why I stopped buying SP music - I didn't like it, and I felt like I was paying for Billy to play around and find himself (and he's got more money than me).
