Default Smashing Pumpkins 20th Anniversary...really?

As nice as it would be to think this great band has been around for 20 years, it's just not the case. They started in 1988 and then were absent from 2001-2007, that's 6 years the band wasn't around because they didn't even exist.

If you want to consider Zwan and The Future Embrace to be the Smashing Pumpkins, then they have been around for 20 years. Otherwise The Smashing Pumpkins have only been around for 14 years making this really a 14th Anniversary...

20 years since the band came into being.

Still, it isn't SP without Ron

What a brilliant thread. This topic hasn't been discussed and bitched about yet.

they haven't forgotten the drum machine, they've been paying homage to the drum machine in the beginning of white crosses.

When Billy broke up the Marked, that was when it all went wrong.

Pfft, please. The Marked were just a happy, upbeat version of Hexen. It's too bad Hexen broke up before they could release their acoustic album.

Fuck you man!!

Nothing is as pure as the first time Billy picked up an instrument. Why couldn't he have just gone solo in the first place?

Man.

Is it sad that his guitar playing as a teenager was way better than it is 30 years later?

I heard from some very reliable sources that there's a ready-to-be-released Hexen dvd, but billy refuses to release it or address the issue.

Do you guys think that the music Zwan and BC-solo made was "American Gothic" music?

Anniversary

The yearly recurrence of the date of a past event. The celebration or commemoration of such a date. Returning or recurring each year; annual.

I don't think Billy meant that kind of Gothic. Besides, even if he did, it is still possible;
