Looking at the video I do agree, having in mind pictures of her with a vodka bottle and crook punctures in 1998:

I said this before and I will say it again. It is a logistics nightmare when you want to play in something bigger than a theater that holds 3,000 tops - yet you can't fill a 15,000 to 20,000 seat arena. Amphitheaters are just as big as those arenas if you factor in the lawn.

We need more places like Mohegan Sun in Connecticut. Have you seen the sales for that? It holds 10,000 and it's almost sold out. That is the PERFECT venue for Smashing Pumpkins. There just are not enough of those (atleast quality ones) around the US. Even your college campuses either have a huge arena for the prominent state schools or some 5,000 seat piece of shit for the small schools.

Does it look bad to only have 60-70% full... getting 10,000 people a night? Maybe to some. But, they still are going to make more money than playing theaters. It's just a fact. Also factor in that there is no way to get that kind of production they are doing in a theater.

Let's just enjoy it going forward. This could be the last major concert series with Billy, Jimmy and James. I guarantee in 20 years when you look back, you won't be concerned about a few thousand empty seats.

Isn't there a Three Stooges rerun on Lifetime you can watch to entertain you?

Watch the video. Anyone embarrassed by that crowd size is just nitpicking.

The video is pointed at the most dense seating area in the middle where Sad Machines were sitting. The sides were very patchy. It’s the emptiest show I’ve ever seen at Toyota Center. Again, they upgraded people who bought $40 nosebleed tickets to $100 seats.

Maybe it’s a Houston thing but the crowd would get smaller and smaller after each big single. Like people would file out after they heard the big song they wanted to hear.
Houston fans suck at concerts

Always have

Ok
So
It was still 8K people

For the Pumpkins in 2018

In a notoriously apathetic market

I was Muse on T2L tour and it was probably that full

Who did you see?

Talking context here, sales are a lot better than Oceania. They don't even have a new hit song or even an album to promote. It's just pure nostalgia with 75% of the original lineup.

Saw some yahoo article complaining that even Taylor Swift ticket prices had to be slashed to fill her stadiums on the last day. She usually has as high of a demand as anyone in the music industry. Yeah, for whatever reason, the market for concerts sucks right now.

Will they be bringing this whole production to Europe for those two dates? If so, I might make it to Wembley

Would it have been better for the Pumpkins to do an "in the round" show, where they are on the floor and the tiered seats is where the audience sit? Then it would look more full.

how are Wembley tickets going? Since there are only 2 shows for Europe, I assumed tickets would be gone by now.

You can still hope that we get a partner look.

I hope it's only your avatar. Can't remember if we had talked of a REAL tattoo...

But the hair looks very familiar to me.

Ticket sale for Europe began on June 22nd.

Some random takeaways from the show:

Jimmy was incredible as always.

Billy’s vocals were decent but he didn’t even attempt a scream at any point.

Guitars needed to be louder. Jacks bass was almost inaudible. I guess that’s just because of typical muddy arena sound.

Jeff was kept under control for the most part. His solos on Blew Away weren’t very good because he didn’t play anything close to the leads on the studio version. Blew Away was also when half the arena went to the restroom or to get beer. Like damn, untr00 fans.

Editing D’arcy out of the classic video footage was a huge dick move. She’s part of the bands history and deserved to be represented.

Landslide was played like the Fleetwood Mac version, nothing like the superior version on Pisces.

Space Oddity was better than the Oceania version but still unnecessary. Feels like an attempt to capitalize on all the people who were suddenly Bowie fans after he died. Would much rather have heard Never Let Me Down Again.

I think Houston shows just attract those casual radio listener types. It’s a very corporate yuppie kind of place so these aren’t people who were obsessed with the band back in the day like we were.

James talked a bit but kinda bumbled and didn’t know what to say. Billy thanked the crowd at the end but he didn’t really tell any stories or say too much. He did a lot of the “sing it!” and “c’mon Houston!” stuff during the big singles. He still did the cheesy posturing during Ava Adore that he did on the Manson tour.

An even bigger dick move would be if Billy inserted clips of Jack Bates in all the spots where D'arcy was removed.

Watch him. He'll do it.

Billy’s soloing was on point last night. When he takes lead it’s easy to hear how he’s ten times the player that Jeff is.

I've been watching since they were released and they seem to be selling steadily. Most of the lower tier seats are gone, apart from the rip-off Ticketmaster "Platinum" block which for some reason justifies a £216 price tag (even the Club seat private boxes were half that). Standing has "sold out" for a second time, although Gold Circle is still available. It helps that it's the only UK gig. I doubt they'll sell many of the upper tier seats closer to the stage though, as they're charging as much as Gold Circle for them.
