So this means the Metro show is going to be released as a six vinyl, 10 CD set for $2500, doesn't it?

Seems like Billy is trying to do something like what The Residents do, take old stuff and repackage it for a small but devoted rich fanbase.

The Residents at least put some work into the stuff they put out though.

For that kind of $$ I'd expect to be able to at least see the quality of the artwork and examples of the liner notes etc. Maybe have a mini-site with an example of the audio quality and an artist's statement from Boz.

No one is buying this to listen to it. Even if this was a slightly competent performance, who is every going to think hey I really feeling listing to Bobo Fidel with synths for 4 hours and get up and flip the records 10 times.

Also since it wasn't planned to be a vinyl set you are going to have music that is not matched to the format what so ever. It's like taking a concert and instead of breaking it up into tracks you just chopped it off every 27 minutes.

Out of the 70 people who bought this so far I doubt more than 10 of them even own a turntable.

Pfft... I wouldn't download this for free let alone pay $375 (+ international shipping)

Also, is this still a part of the Teargarden by kaleidoscope album within an album routine? If so Siddhartha should be about track 34, So we're getting there to that magic 44 number at least!!1!1

It was only 4 years ago I was losing my mind over how awesome the Mellon Collie boxset was, now this...

I love that their are ghosted users that still post here.

Are they just really dedicated trolls?

Have they been posting for years not realizing no one can see them?

Are they totally batshit insane?

Billy Corgan Releases Eight-Hour Siddhartha Synth Jam in Unpurchasable $375 Box Set
http://www.spin.com/2016/12/billy-co...le-375-box-set

Quote:
Billy Corgan’s 2014 improvisational musical interpretation of Herman Hesse’s novel Siddhartha (with recitations) was eight hours, and staged, of all ridiculous places, in Corgan’s tea shop in front of a live audience. Corgan also livestreamed it, unintentionally giving birth to one of the purest delights of the Music Internet that year: a Oneohtrix Point Never live-tweet session (“chillass corgan groove,” the electronic composer quipped early on).

You might have thought Corgan’s stunt would quickly pass into the realm of obscurity–just another of the many batshit, self-indulgent stunts the Smashing Pumpkins frontman has pulled over the years. Nope, Corgan, as usual, was looking to monetize. This power play is, indeed, on a smaller scale than selling different versions of the album in Target, Best Buy, and on iTunes, and then “reissuing” it a little over four months later, but it’s still pretty damn silly. As Pitchfork reports, he’s selling 500 copies of a box set with five signed and Corgan-“hand-numbered” (does anyone alive give a fuck?) vinyl records, along with a mini-synth and a trucker hat with Corgan’s initials on it. Sales are going through the tea shop, of course.

And you can bet that price tag is no joke: $375. In another absurd detail, those who purchase the set will be automatically entered to win a record player, advertised as a cool Corgan-y holiday giveaway. Merry Christmas (and he does specify Christmas) from Billy. If you do intend on purchasing this thing, please contact SPIN; we’d be curious to know your life story.
